In my pursuit of some of the oldtimers, I recentely exchanged letters with and talked to Bob Bell, a real gentleman, and letters with Devore Killip. Devore writes a nice letter, with a beautiful script, and an impressive sketched letterhead, and is still active working on guns. Whatever inspired him, I don't know, but he just finished up a Winchester .45-70 that he started in the 1950s. Neither of these old gents will touch a computer, so I said I would pass along their respects to all of you!

Many, many years ago, Devore Killip was my dentist (and good friend) in Missoula, Montana. He also knew Iver Henriksen, Charlie O'Neil, John Buhmiller, and Elmer Keith very well. "Doc" was not only an especially good gun-maker but a skilled engraver as well. I'm especially glad to hear from him, even indirectly. Thanks!

If it weren't for the oldtimers, I'd have never been a youngster listening in to a very fine bunch of true stories. And if it weren't for them, I'd never have gotten the fine instruction I've had. They gave of what they knew. That's delightful.
Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. -- Daniel Webster
