Just picked up a new pack, the tailhook by Eberlestock. Big pack, bigger than the one I had. I like it alot. What items/pack list do you use for your whitetail hunting. I'll post a few pics when I get the chance.

You have to give us a little more info about the hunt that you plan in order for us to give you a list of what we would take because each hunt is different. Are you walking to a tree stand from your car? Are you backpack hunting? Do you plan to day hunt out of a base camp?

If I'm hunting the riverbottom where you're always close to the truck, it's no pack just snack, phone, 5 rounds, knife and maybe a laser.
Deer hunting the hills on a day hike, tripod spotter laser camera gps headlamp extra batteries compass knife/sharpener 5 rounds rain jacket/pack cover water food lighter cord meat bags garbage bag extra set of contact lenses eye drops optics cloth/drops TP
Tripod, spotter and water are by far most all the weight.
Just went through my crap, deer opens this Saturday!

I carry some combination of everything mentioned so far depending on the circumstances, plus a neat little flexible cleaning rod in a round tin with some gun cleaning accessories. Maker's name eludes me. In the 20 years I've been lugging it around I've had to use it twice to clear crap out of my barrel.

No offense but you sound as if your doing this backwards ie you've bought a big pack and now you want to fill it... Really you are better trying to keep things to a minimum and tailoring what you carry on each hunt to the circumstances...

This is what I carry when hunting away from the road on a day hunt. If I pack in, I usually carry my daypack lashed to the main pack and set up a spike camp and then hunt from there. I also do some hunting in small wood lots in the southern tier and then I carry much less in a fanny pack.
I do want to drop the T-saw as I rarely use it and replace it with saw that I can just cut off the skull plate. I also am considering one of those spot emergency beacons as I mostly hunt alone and the thought of a broken leg 5 miles from the road in the Adirondacks in November doesnt seem so good.
7 cartridges Electrical tape Pen binos (I wear them, but I keep them with pack)
Knife Gerber T-saw 2 pillow cases Rubbermaid gloves Rifle sling and 2 pieces of 500 cord (makes a deer Drag)
Compass Map GPS Ensolite pad cut to fit inside pack 6'X 8' silnylon tarp
Flagging Tape
Led flashlight with red lens filter LED headlamp
Lighter Water and food
Radio (if hunting with someone else) Small digital Camera
Warm hat extra insulating layer Maybe a rain top
