I took this Mulie opening day(Oct 16) here in Central Washington with a .270 WSM and a 140gr Nosler Accubond.

Scott thanks for posting! These bucks were all taken last week in Wyoming.John's buck is the top one, a heavy, old 3x3 which I think is really cool.We caught him on a brushy hillside at about 400 yards, and John killed him with a M70 Classic in 280 Remington.Load was a Federal factory 140 TSX. Next two pics are the buck I killed....Matt spotted this buck from long range in a patch of buckbrush on a high plateau which dropped off into a series of draws and canyons on the backside.Matt and I went after him,and got within 80 yards or so.....he came barreling by me at about 70 yards through the brush,on the run. With about two seconds to size things up before he got down into the canyon, I killed him with an off-hand shot at about 70 yards. He was hit through the spine behind the shoulders, and collapsed at the shot. The third buck was killed by Matt.We spotted this buck maybe 700-800 yards away,10 minutes after I had killed mine.I looked the buck over quickly;saw good frame and a large body and suggested Matt go after him....Matt took off down through the country, flopped prone at 380 yards, and killed him in 3 shots. Both Matt and I used pre 64 M70 FW's in 270 Win;load was the 130 Partition and 61-H4831.His rifle had a Bansner stock and 2-7 Leupold.Mine a McMillan Compact Edge and 2.5-8 Leupold.Everything worked fine,as expected. All three bucks were aged at 5 1/2 years old or older, which was nice. Overall I think we did pretty good!A little luck sure doesn't hurt!

Dave the Mashburn sorta freaked me out the last range trip...I got a change in POI and could not figure it out;metering hours till departure I had no time to find out whether it was the rifle or me or what,so grabbed the 270 instead... At 70 yards I doubt it would have mattered.....LOL! I will perk up the Mashburn again and get it running....plenty of time to hunt it.

CT landowner Rifle starts on November 1. I been doing a lot of sitting and just watching. We had a bummer crop of acorns this year. And I see shootable does and bucks for the last month just about every day. My guess, I will be able to fill my two tags right quick if I want to.

Nice deer you guys. Here's my contribution this year. Best part is my hunting buddy was with me all weekend, I didn't have to call him in sick tomorrow to school. Shot the buck opening day, fraction of the size of the bucks I'd been seeing. But, when it's shoot don't shoot and 4 bucks are running left to right, I picked the biggest one. First shot took him high the shoulder, it'd have been fine if I'd just waited and let him go lie down and die, but if he's running I'm shooting. 2nd shot busted his antler and sent him cartwheeling for a good ways down the coulee. My boy laughed like a fiend, making it well worth it. Didnt' know I shot it off till we went up to him. Spent 2 hours scouring the sage and grass till we found 2 little pieces, and that big chunk. Still missing a couple inches and the brow tine. Woulda been 5X5 17-18" across. I shot him with a 700 BDL 30-06, Leupy FX2 6X36 LR reticle, 165 grain interlock over 58 grains H4350. Took the monster doe today, at 175 yards in the back of the head with a Marlin 45/70, Burris 2.75X scout scope, 300 grain Hornady JHP over 55 grains IMR 4198.
