FYI: The complete Gun Digest on DVD is now available.

This is from #1 on through a download of the latest edition. It is on three DVDs, and each complete issue is a separate PDF file.

Right now the price is $60, which is a bargain.

The OCR is not perfect, but the fact that Adobe Acrobat can index each issue and let you do key word searches makes it very nice for reference.

I won't retire my "real" set, but this makes a nice supplement.

Gents

Over the past 40 some odd years, I've looked at one or two Gun Digests. I didn't see anything that would create a desire in me to purchase a copy.
What's the deal with these catalogs?

Probably just that it's 60+years of American shooting history.
Hopefully with ads.

Each issue is complete from front cover to back.

There are hundreds of great technical articles on individual firearms, collecting, gunsmithing, reloading and hunting by most of the big names of their day and a lot of other contributors. A LOT of research went into the content of most of the articles.

There are some good, historically accurate, fiction stories too, and a scattering of humor that makes for fun reading.

The second edition has a photo on page 15 that looks a lot like Jack O'Connor and is captioned as being of Elmer Keith. I've often wondered how that sat with those two gentlemen . . .
