I found a couple of pounds of RL25 I forgot I had in my locker - was thinking of using it in my 25-06 with 117 gr Sierra BTSP. Anyone loaded any - if so, how did it go? The Alliant web site shows something like 3100 fps with it.

I been using IMR-4831 powder so long I can't remember but it is my go to powder for my model 70 1/4 bore. I like 55 grains of powder with a 100 grain bullet at 3300fps. I have gotten anywhere from 1/2 to 7/8 inch groups at the bench.
Now that 120 grain bullet gets the attention of 56 grains of IMR-powder and velocity is 3100fps. It shoots 1-moa or better on good days.

i've had great success w/ rl-25 and 117/120's. great accuracy, and it is a velocity monster.
Hunting is not a matter of life or death. It is much more important than that.

I should add that my normal load uses H4831SC with this bullet and shoots lights out. So, since it works great, I think it's time to change.....Life of a loony...

i've had great success w/ rl-25 and 117/120's. great accuracy, and it is a velocity monster. +1 58g of R#25 with a fed 215 was the accuracy node in my rifle,Use ONLY Winchester brass because Rem and fed are soft, very fast velocity with the Sierra 117. Rifles and lot# of this powder will vary so work up to this load in your rifle. If you indeed find that it does work for you, then buy a 5 lb'er and verify the load with the last lot# you had. The accuracy node in two of my rifles was on the ragged edge of HOT in 70* weather. It also worked extremely well with the 100g pills with an over book max load...depending on the book you look at.

And I never even got around to tryin' RL-25 'cause 55.5 gr. of RL-22 launches 117 gr. Sierra Pro-Hunters out of my .25-06 at an average 3128 fps (Winchester brass,GM-210M primers) and it's so darn accurate I never even tried the rest of the stuff I was thinking of. Even made a 320-something yard kill on a nice antelope buck back in '03 with that load, (my longest ever big game shot). However; RL-25 does sound real interesting and lately I been thinkin about trying it just to satisfy my curiousity. Some guys I've spoken with love it in the .25-06 with 115-120 gr. bullets.
