I went to Academy Sports the other day to get some fly line. While there, I noticed they had a sale on shotguns. I looked at these guns, which were $399 for the O/Us in 20 and 12. They were pretty damn good for relatively cheap shotguns, had 5 choke tubes and nice wood. They're made by Yadiz, Ydiz or something like that, in Turkey.
The 410 S x S I also looked at was fixed tubes and a bit more, can't remember exactly, about $60 I think.
If I weren't already shotgun poor, I would get one of these. I've heard very good reviews on these shotguns, BTW.
I'm not affiliated with Ydiz or Academy, just passing along the information.

While they look nice on the outside, it's the innards that make/break a shotgun.. And those models have such crude internal parts that it's a miracle if one functions correctly for more than a dozen shells.
Keep in mind that a relatively GOOD O/U or SXS can run $1500+ easily (Browning, SKB) you can understand that when you spend $399 you're going to get something quite a bit less in quality..
And when, not if, it fails where can it get fixed??

You get what you pay for. Soft, crudely machined, poorly fitted parts inside are the norm, not the exception. Not a bad buy if all you want is something to lean up behind the back door to take a pot shot at a 'coon in the back yard now and then. I certainly wouldn't expect one of that ilk to hold up under even moderate usage.

Reports on them have been very enthusiastic so far as service goes. You can check on doublegunshop.com and google Ydiz for some actual owners who speak highly of them.
I Know you get what you pay for, though. On the other hand, you pay $400 for a pump gun, you expect to get a reasonably sound gun.

I own a Yildiz 20ga OU. I've used it for 1500 rounds (target & dove loads only) and have not had a single hiccup. I bought it on a whim because I was looking for a light 20ga OU. It gets a lot of compliments at the range and in the field. The wood on them is usually very nice but the checkering looks like it was done by hand by an apprentice. I would not hesitate to buy another in 20ga. Their 12ga is VERY light and the recoil pad is rock hard. It would not be my choice for turkeys or heavy load use. Will it last forever? I have no idea and it doesn't matter to me. I am satisfied with what I paid and how long it will last. Another point is that they are rarely found on Gunbroker which to me means that buyers are keeping them and not getting rid of them as fast as they can. Yildiz 12ga O/U RH

Beretta used to make a 686 Silver Essential. Which was a basic 686 - plain sides, pretty plain wood, screw in choke tubes etc...Basically a 686 just plain as could be. Price was in the $500 range. I bought one and I think I paid $435 on sale.
Apparently they only made them for 2 years. I don't know why they dropped it but I thought it was the perfect gun to take out duck hunting and other field situations.
Otto is my co-pilot.

Yildiz 12ga O/U RH Or just not a lot of them had sold period. I wouldn't use what is or isn't on gunbroker to judge if people are hanging onto something or the quality of a product.
