I got this ammo with the rifle I purchased last week. I just wanted to know if the ammo is collectible or if I should go ahead and shoot it. The ammo all seems to be 180gr even tho two of the boxes say 150gr. The 150gr Savage box has been marked with 180gr with a crayon on the side and back. The do look like new ammo and not reloads. My plan was to shoot them and just keep the boxes, but thought I should check first. The boxes are not in great shape either. A couple of them are missing the end flaps.
Thanks,
Jim

Me....I wouldn't shoot it. Is it worth much? Probably not. But it's probably 50 years old and it's probably worth more than you could buy new ammo for.

It will be worth a fortune 50 years from now. wink

I'd keep it and buy new to shoot if it were me.

Just sayin'.

Don't shoot them!!!! Heck yes they're collectible. Not as nice as one could hope for, but collectible none the less. I'm sure there are guys here who would gladly swap some modern stuff for those.

Save the Savage Ammo,Make Sure they are Stored In Cool Dry Place,Perhaps Shrink Wrap the to keep Moisture Out, The Boxes dom't Have Much Condition, But the Ammo is Worth Saving along with the box, The Remington Shoot Them Up and Western, Well Hold On to the Ammo or Shoot, There are some fine Boxes out there if You want to Collect.

Thanks for the info. I'll just keep these and look at them. Never considered myself a collector, but looks like these 99's are going to change that.

Don't know if you can see it, but the round sticker on the Savage box is from Western Auto. $3.60 reduced to $1.80.
