Nice job C.

I used a trekking pole a bit on my sheep hunt and am sold. Haven't used it deer hunting yet.

Supposed to get out for 4 days over Vet's Day weekend. Looks like solid rain. ARGGGGG. Bought my first Impertech bling (camo jacket) on Saturday. May need to score some bibs also and give it a torture test.

Just punch that last tag and work on filling the boys tags. Are you being a hard-ass again and not letting them play hooky from school during the rut?

Yes on the corks. Those softy muddy hillsides are still tough with the corks.

L,

The kids all have tests this week, so I'm keeping them in school. I like hunting solo a little this time of the year.. Lets me think about what I am doing a little better and lets me keep the noise down.

Did that with my first bull elk. Worked fine until I dropped the nose..... my Dad had a hoot over that. Laughin' so hard he could barely breath. Of course, it was his idea to begin with! laugh

Very nice buck, Calvin! have you thought about using neoprene braces for your knees? I have bad knees, and my doc got me turned onto them a couple years back. Nothing fancy like hinges or any metal at all, but they keep everything warm and snug so it stays in place.

I've not had issues with my knees yet, but it is something to think about. My buddy who had hauled a ton of bucks off the mountains over the years mentioned that all the mountain hunting he's done has trashed his knees.

Awesome job Calvin! Though it's tough hunting in blowing snow, I love snowy hunting cinditions.

That's a really nice buck! looks like you are a buck killing fool so far this year.

Congrats.

I just got back home from P.O.W last night.Had a great time as usual.Definatly a little breezy this year.

Calvin,I hunt solo and up high when I'm down there too,so I know the misery and accomplishment you feel.

Good luck with your last tag.

Hey Calvin, here's an idea for next time... pressurize your rifle like we talked about, take an air bed up there, use your compressed air to fill up the mattress, go shoot a deer then just slide the sucker down the snow on the mattress!

Just look how many uses there are for an airtight breech... grin....

(now don't go getting all horned up young feller! I'm just messing with you.........)

The key to good knee health is keeping them warm and flexible. I busted mine up on a job sight accident @6 years ago. Still haven't done surgery yet, but the braces let me manage @ 75lbs in a good pack. One of those things you don't appreciate till it's too late...

Did well.
Been cutting and grinding all day.

Nothing huge but did manage a nice 3x4 as well as some other lessers.
