I know a guy that uses a Remington 40X 222 for crows, and shoots at them almost any distance as long the back stop is safe. He says he either misses, or its feathers everywhere when he does hit one. How could it be any other way?

Crows have to be one of the smartest animals to hunt
You've got to hand it to a blind prostitute

In some parts of Europe whe use a raptor decoy, most of time a Owl, and a good 12gauge shotgun. Build a nice blind that really hide you from that smart crows and shoot them when they come to attack the decoy. I think it will work in US of A too as big owl are night predators of crows and magpies too amongst other animals and birds. Not really long range "sniping" but lots of fun... Dom

Idk how you got within 15 steps of a crow but kudos. That's impressive.lol. I can barley get the house window open when they're at 40-50yds.
Got a 1,750 sq. foot brick box blind! He was waddling up on a sexy lookin' blackbird, and I snaked the barrel of my ol' Springfield .22 out the back door, focused on the front sight through the peep and squeezed when it bead settled on the wingbutt. The sound of a fingersnap and his life's blood was streaming out on the dewy grass. It made me smile before I went to work that morning. Got a pic on the computer somewhere, but I was pretty fat that year and don't want any comments on my manboobs! That was well written Dan--funny too. Buddy of mine kilt this one with this 17 Mach IV/4.5-14 Aetec Simmons (i think is what it was on top) at 500-something off a ballistic program calcs. only while we were testing the drops. Probably never have that kinda' luck again. Had a SP tgt. turret on it-- Wanna' kill some with this setup though--

Man these post bring back memories. In 1960(God, fifty years ago) my Dad had the most up to date elctronic caller available, a phonograph(ran on 12 D-cell batteries) and a 45 rpm record called Young and Nesting Crows. We went out every Saturday for years. Often went up near Garland City Arkansas and set up on the woods and fields there. My Uncle was a truck driver who stopped at a cafe near Garland City one day and listened to two farmers talk. One says" I don't know how they do it. Theres three of 'em in a pickup truck. They go in the woods and all hell breaks loose. Must be one calling while the others shoot. The crows just rain down. Use to you go down that road the crows didn't even move, now they see a pickup, they all get up and haul a$$."

One of the funniest things I have ever done was shoot 4 out of 6 crows off a power line with a suppressed 22 from inside a building. I would shoot one and they would hover for a few seconds, land back on the wire and look at their buddy on the ground and start bitching. Pfft, another one would fall and it would start all over again. Last 2 must have figured out their buddies weren't having heart attcks and finally left.
