Hi, Anyone got a source for one of these plastic buttplates? I bought a decent rifle but the buttplate is busted. Thanks!

Hi Ryan, Is the 29A and 29B buttplate the same. I went and looked at Numrich's site and it only lists a 29A. Thanks for the great tip!

From the ones I have seen they are the standard buttplate during that era, my Savage 6 has the same buttplate too. Should be the one, but it is Savage, you never know for sure. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Measure the width of the plate across the top screw hole. The early ones are about 1" while the later are wider.
My 5's and 7 have the wider plate. On the 29's the wide plate might have started with the grooved receiver (29-B). I think the curve in the end of the stock is the same on the 29/29A...little different on the 29B. There is a lot of variables in the 29 family. I need a couple of plates so am very interested in the shape of the one you purchased.

Savage99T & Bushwhacker (and anyone else with 29's), if you don't mind, I would like to collect some data from your 29's. PM will be sent.

Well the buttplate arrived and it is the right style only its 1/2 inch too long and 1/2 too wide. I am going to send it back with a tracing of stock and piece of buttplate that is still there. I will let you know if they get it right.

If it's the right style I'll buy it from you and fit it to my stock as long as the distance between the screws is right. PM me if we can work something out.

The buttplate on mine is 1.550 at the widest part which is about 1/2 inch down from the top screw.

I dont think there will be enough edge to fit it. This one is 5 1/4inches long and 1 3/4 inches wide (Way out of dimension.) I would try tracing your buttplate and sending it in with an order to Gunparts and see if they can match it. I have done that with Grips when they have sent me the wrong ones and then they are able to send me ones that are a better fit. Ryan

HELLO

BEEN READING ALL THE POSTS ON YOUR 29B BUTTPLATE.
FIRST ARE YOU SURE THAT IT'S THE RIGHT STOCK TO GUN?
NOT A SOUL HAS TALKED TO YOU ABOUT THIS AS A PROBLEM FOR THE SIZE. PEOPLE DO CHANGE ITEMS ON GUNS TO MAKE A SELL. THE 29/29A STOCK & PLATE OR THE SAME TO A POINT AND THE 29B IS NOT LIKE THEM. YOU CAN CHECK YOUR SERIAL # TO GUN AND STOCK, MOST BUT ALL SAVAGE GUN PARTS IN THE 22'S WELL NUMBERED TO THE RECEIVER. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM W/THIS ITEM YOU CAN
SEND A DRAWING TO ME AND I WILL IF I HAVE TO. REMOVE ONE FROM A PARTS GUN. I DO HAVE SAVAGE 22'S PARTS 1903'S UP.
