Guys, I'm done putting together my Ti wannabe. Here is what I used :

NIB Rem 700 Stainless Mountain Rifle 22" 30-06 out of box at 6.62lbs.

Ti take-off black ADL / purchased 3 new screws
Silver ADL trigger guard
Blue ADL magazine box / Midway out of stainless
Used the original spring and follower
Callahan Pin assembly - Gre-Tan would've matched better color
1 piece Silver DeadNutz low scope base/rings
Leupold Compact silver 3-9

Don't think I'll flute the bolt just now. Bore sighted and off to the range today for a test drive. I was there for 2 hours and fired 10 shots. Ammo was factory Federal 180gr soft points. Here are the results.

Last picture is my last 2 shot group. I think it will be minute of deer.

Nice rifle well done!! I need to try out some of those mounts, looks like the lows would be perfect for a 6x36.

I just screwed one together in .223 and am so pleased with the way it shoots and especially how the stock feels and handles...that there will be another in my future!! grin

Yours looks good....shoots good too!!!

Calvin,

I only fired 2 shot groups. I wanted to see where the first would go and then a follow-up shot if needed. The last target has 2 shots in 1 hole. Not bad for blue box factory ammo. I forgot to mention the total weight when done.

Who cold use a lightweight stainless 30-06 that shoots? grin

NICE RIG!

Mighty sweet looking and shooting. How's the recoil?

Swampy, recoil was noticeable but manageable. The R3 pad worked great plus with sweatshirt and jacket on as it was about 40 degrees when shooting.

So the weight of the mtn rifle was exactly what it sits at now, scopped and all? Or was the first weight figure the final, as shown below?

I have one of those little Allen recoil pads that I wear in warm weather. They were on sale for $10.00 at Walmart. Best money I ever spent.

Just for comparison, my long action 257 Roberts with BDL TI stock, 22" MR contour, Talley LWs and 2.5x8 weighs 7lb 2oz. The extra 1/2 lb must come from the smaller bore and the BDL set-up.

SuperCub,

I purchased a Leupold Ultralight silver 3-9 which weighed 8.8 ounces. I couldn't wait for it to arrive so I mounted the 3-9 Compact. I didn't have the scale till after the build was complete. I'm guessing that your scope must be a tad heavier and with your floor plate may give you the little extra weight. Out of the box with the wood stock the 06 weighed 6.62 pounds naked. Do you have the aluminum block in your BDL stock ? I don't think your Tally mounts weigh any more then the 1 piece Deadnutz mount that I used.

ehunter,

Plenty of room for scope caps or flip-up covers if you so wish to use them. I use the scope coat by Leupold.

Bob,

Thanks for the thumbs-up on my 06. Just felt like doing something different and in a 30 cal. Factory ammo has come a long way as far as accuracy goes. Might just stick with the blue box Federals if they're going to shoot like that.

No block in my stock. Pretty sure the extra metal in the bbl given the samller bore is the main culprit.

Either way, I'm very pleased with it. I wish Remington would offer bare TI actions. They'd sell many.

Where is the best place to locate one of these stocks?
