I have been doing a little reading about the financial problems in Ireland. It is a situation we as American could just be facing ourselves with the Gooberment wild spending of money we don't have.

Ireland will be raising sales tax over the next 4 years to 23%.
There will be a cut in the Minimum wage.
Cut Civil Service jobs by 24,750.
More poor will have to pay taxes.
A reduction in Welfare payments.
A reduction in the amounts of Government Pensions.

For some reason, I can see the USA doing this very thing just to keep America from Bankruptcy. We have all asked for cost cutting, eliminate wasteful spending etc. We may get the results of NOT doing that and join Ireland and Greece in ruin.

immediate mid term for the US?

my guesstimate is higher taxes,

lower USD$

which means inflation

luxury products will go down in value,

staples will go up

it'll take a brick between the eyes to ever stop runaway gov't spending, their mouths have written checks that their azz can't cash.....literally

I'm pretty certain when we sing our anthem and mention the land of the free, the original intent didn't mean cell phones, food stamps and birth control.
