Really like the cartridge, easy to reload. No help on the 760, but always thought one in 9.3x62 would be a fun hog rifle!

The 760's in 300 Savage have been going for ballpark range of $325 to lower $400's depending on condition, scoped or not.

I just saw a new-in-box 760 in 300 Savage go for $1k too:

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=198581144

So their price of $329 seems to be right in line with going rates. Check it over well, if the rifle is in great condition (with scope?), you may have found a nice deal.

Fair price and an enormously under-rated hunting round.
I hunted for several years in Colorado with a fellow who used this round, in an old Savage, with success that kinda surprised me. He was a highly disciplined hunter. Passed away a few years ago, Lt Col H R Spokes. Good man.

Neat rifle, great cartridge, and one of the all-time classic combos.

Not a bad price, either, especially considering your neck of the woods.

I think it is a fine rifle and a superfine catridge!
I always thought the 300 Savage with a 150 around 2600 FPS or so would be the IDEAL whitetail catridge, relatively light recoil, can be reloaded or buy factory rounds, ought to be good 300 yards plus.Sounds like a winner to me !

Great round and rifle! Out here that would be a very good price. Our pawn shops and gun stores have stupid high prices on used 760/7600s and 336s.

760s are rare here, but I would love that combination.

Sounds about right on the price, and it actually would be a good combination for the east...
But....

It will need see-thru mounts and a Bubba Buddy! laugh

I was tricked in to buying a pump by JB in an article he wrote when I was in a defenseless state. I bought one in .300 because I like the caliber. Need to scope it up and shoot it. I have a Savage 99 and Model 14 Classic bolt in this caliber and both shoot great. It's a very easy round to reload, has great ballistics and has been very accurate for me. I paid about the same price you were quoted for mine on an auction, although it is in good shape and not the greatest. From the prices I have seen the better ones are more expensive. My 2 cents.

Have a good friend that has a pile of fine hunting rifles. Every year, however, guess what two get called up for service? Two identical 760's in .300 Savage. One has a receiver sight and the other a 2-1/2 x scope. Ideal rifle/cartridge combo for hunting the Northeast woods.

I have one, like it a lot. Classic. Iron sights or low power scope, both work.

$300 bucks for one in an 06 is a decent price, so that is pretty good for that a somewhat rare caliber. If you like the gun go for it. It will be a fun meat maker.

I love my old 760, I killed my first buck with it!

Mags can be hard to come by and the trigger is alittle stiff.

too bad RAH - I liked this caliber better. Keep looking, be patient.

Another member threw out a non-bubba'd 760. I have to make some phone calls tomorrow.

What I really want is a 308 or 30-06 7600 carbine blued/walnut. Hard to find.
