Try searching on "Redfield Revolution" and you should find lots of opinions.

I have a couple of the 3-9x40s and 4-12x40 and think that they are OK, but not a scope that I would put on a 1st tier hunting rifle. I'm thinking about buying a Vortex Crossfire 4-12x40 AO to try on a faux-LVSF 223.

Standard disclaimer; "YMMV and since my experience is mine alone, your experience is likely to be different.".

I did the search a week or so ago and off the top of my head...
On sale now thru 12-21-2010 at MC Sports chain $139 for the 3-9x40.
Best scope for the money
Leupold warranty
American made (asian optics?)in Oregon
Not as bright as Vortex but as good as Leupold VXII, Burris FFII
Best eye relief of any in it's class or beyond
Click adjustment not friction
Big Red R on the bell housing
Long enough to mount on long actions with plenty of bolt clearance and adjustability back and forth.
No one has managed to destroy one shooting yet, which includes 338 mags and such.

About like a Leupold Rifleman, but $50 cheaper.

I mounted one for a friend on his 7x57. Very good scope for the money. I would buy it over a VXI any day. I would think in order to step up optically you would need to go to a VXII. Very good buy.

I put one (3x9x40) on a Stevens 200 in .223. I grabbed the whole setup when Academy was running the 200's on sale.
Rifle, scope, bases, rings and sling OTD for under $450.00.
I am more than happy with the scope, for the money, is it a VII? no, but very serviceable.

I agree, but I don't think it is very far behind it.

It on that stevens sounds like a great combo.

I have hunted with the new Redfield 2-7x33 on a Marlin M336 this season. At the last minute of legal light (30 minutes after sunset) I could place the crosshair on a buck at 120 yards with enough accuracy to place my bullet where I wanted to - the best $140.00 scope I have ever owned. As stated above it's not the equal of my VX-III, but is very close to being equal to my VX-II.

Looks good on that 336....can't miss those 3 rings on the ocular.
