Yes they do. The old 100 grain round nose core-lokts shoot/do very well out of this particular rifle. One of only a few rifles I shoot factory ammo out of.

Got one today with an old 99, 308. Rolled my own bullet( 165 gr. nosler partition on top of 45 gr. of IMR 4895) it's overkill for a 135 pound deer at 35 steps but hey, he sure didn't go far. That gun really likes the 165 gr. but I can't get more than a 2 1/2 inch group out of 180 gr. Great day of hunting in PA, saw 26 doe and 5 bucks before this one stepped up, numbers are climbing in my part of the state, so you won't hear me complain about deer management. But I also hunt private land( but not posted), and alot of it is hard to get to, so my story might be different from those on public land.
And if someone will tell me how I'll post a pic. He's a PA seven point, no beauty but he's mine now.
Tell me the odds of putting grease on the same pancake? I Know they are there, well ice and house slippers. -Kawi

I bought a Premil Savage 99 F 300 Savage back in September, after; reading an article in The Legacy of Lever Guns on Savages 99.I always wanted an a Savage 99 and when I saw one in a gun store on the used gun rack and held it in my hands. I'm glad I bought it. The past three days of rifle season. I've scored an 8 point Buck @ 220 yds , two does @ 150 yards and today an eleven point Buck @ 60 yards.Using handloads ,150 grain rem coreloks loaded to 2600 FPS.I really like this rifle and I plan on using it for future seasons.

Nice deer and rifle 300savagehunter. Way to go. I'm using scopes on mine right now (old eyes), but I just got a receiver sight which will go on one of them. Probably won't get to hunt it until next season.

VAJIM - Just practice, I used scopes for years but these old guns just don't look or carry right with them. Get a 22 with a tang sight and shoot at a paper plate at 100yds. After a summer of that a deer is easy. I've worn progressive lenses for years and they work fine after a short learning curve.

Florida is 2 deer a day with no season limit. Does in archery and for a week in gun season. Our gun season is two months. Three if you move around the state.

My son dropped this nine pointer on Monday - one shot from an 1899 250-3000. I'm out looking for the one he was battling with, notice all the broken tines.

Bang, flop. Somehow he gets away shooting 100gr PSPs with great accuracy with that old rifle.
