Finest for what? Carry, hunting, target? I have a Ruger Super Redhawk (with scope) that I feel is an excellent revolver for hunting but wouldn't necessarily want to carry it.
Fall seven times, stand up eight.

I like the Super Redhawk with the 9 and 1/2 inch barrel with a scope for hunting. Otherwise, I like the Modelo 29 Classic and the Anaconda.

Freedom arms for a single action. S&W for a double action, BUT only S&Ws made PRIOR to 1994 (pre MIM and pre-lock).

I've had Super Black Hawks and a S+W's..still have a few but not so long ago aquired a US Arms Abilene 44 from a deceased friend's wife. What a beauty it is..10" heavy barrel/heavier duty cylinder and overall finer machined and blued than any mentioned above.Very smooth and super accurate will definitely be passing it down to my son!!!

I've never shot one with a better action and especially the trigger than what I have on my 1964 built M29 S&W. E

I don't have one in 44 Mag, but I'd like one in the Freedom Arms 83 family to match my 454. I'd go so far to say, I'd like it with an octagonal barrel and black micarta grips too.

I've had a 6" Dan Wesson for the last twenty+ years and have put 100's of rounds through it. Can only compare it to Rugers both SRH and SBH and thought it was a better gun in every category. I have never fired a S&W md 29 nor a Freedom Arms but bet it would hold it's own with those too.

+1 My FA83 is chambered in 454 Casull. I'm a big fan of Freedom Arms products. A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for with those guys.
