I always enjoy a film if it has a twist in the plot at the end, especially if I didn't see it coming earlier in the movie.
My favourite has to be the final scenes of The Usual Suspects when the indentity of Keyser Soze is revealed...

Big Hand for the Little Lady.
Funniest last 3 minutes of a film I can recall.

The Sixth Sense. At the time I never saw it coming. I was too engrossed in the movie to catch the tells.
They say everything happens for a reason. For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.

The Sixth Sense. At the time I never saw it coming. I was too engrossed in the movie to catch the tells. The Sixth Sense was a cheat. That's why you didn't catch the tells. The kid is terrified of the dead people he sees, but he's not scared of Bruce Willis, who is one of the dead people. And he makes references to dead people when talking to Willis as if Willis wasn't one of them. That's cheating. - Tom

The Score Primal Fear
I loved the singing at the end of 'Big Hand for the Little Lady'. That gal belting out that song was fabulous.

An oldie- Electroglide in Blue- it took me a couple of days to really understand the ending I saw it when it was showing but never realized there was a 'twist' in the ending. How 'bout 'splaining it, as Ricky Ricardo would say. I never expected John to get shot but was there another meaning to it?

That one got me too. Her husband showing up and acting weird didn't tip me off either.

If you remember there was an ongoing search for some killers that used a shotgun. At the end the character played by Robert Blake made a traffic stop and after it was over he realized that he had failed to return the drivers license. As he was trying to overtake the van to return it he was blown off his bike-by a shotgun.

"The Usual Suspects" is my pick for the best surprise ending.
"The Departed" has also has some pretty good twists at the end, but for completely different reasons.
Thoroughly enjoying Alaska since 2001.

Gone baby, Gone has the best surprise ending IMO.
The Usual Suspects was pretty darn good too.

Although the books were consistently better, any of Alistair McClean's books made into movies back in the 1960's and '70's had great twists at the end. Brilliant writer. examples- Ice Station Zebra, Guns of Navarone, Where Eagles Dare, Puppet on a Chain, When Eight Bells Toll, Bear Island, etc, etc....
