I stumbled into a great deal on this stuff yesterday and ended up with most of the system. It seems pretty nice and well thought out, especially for the price. There is 2 weekends of season left so hopefully I'll get to see how they perform and I'll let you guys know. My only complaint right now is no pit zips.

Where did you find the good deal?

The evil empire, Sportman's Warehouse. It was buy one get one free. So if you bought a Zepher Jacket you would get the pants for free, or a Gale Jacket and get the pants for free, etc. So I got the Alpine and Tundra base layers. The Zephyr, Gale, and Whiteout jackets and pants, as well as the Cyclone rain jacket and pants. I pretty much went all out, but all that only cost me 625 out the door.

Mind if I ask what you paid for the Zepher Jacket?
I bought it for light rain gear, I talked to a guy who used it for spring bear season, rain off and on and he said it worked fine, its not for downpours but if you get caught out in light rain it works good.

Been seeing Russell APX G2 gear advertised. I got on their absolutely useless website and couldn't find any useful information on the stuff. So, I gave up. If they think no more of it than that I suppose I won't either.

The website is a little misleading. If you look for apxg2 under the hunting gear you won't find it. Scroll down and it's all there.

I just got there rain gear cyclone,I think it's called seems pretty nice.. Gander MT also has that buy one get one free thing so the whole set cost $159.I'm not sure i would have paid full price, but it seems nice for that price...It does run a little big if you're thinking about some...

I tried out the Gale jacket this weekend along with the alpine base layers. The base layers move moisture better than my cabelas mtp's, they also have more stretch. I like the fit, not to loose and not to tight, but the shirt is a mock t-neck which I'm not a huge fan of. The gale jacket is suprisingly warm, warmer than my original 90% jacket, the one with the hood. My one complaint is that there are no real vents to speak, but it did seem to dry fast if you worked up a sweat.

One thing about about the system is that it is set up in layers and they are meant to fit over each other. For example, the L4 Gale jacket is cut to go over the L3 Zephyr jacket which is cut to go over the L2 Tundra base layer and so on. You can actually get 3 jackets on without feeling too bulky. Not that you would need to, but you can. But that is why the rain gear seems to be cut large.
