I went out this morning before work. Owl hooted at 6:22 a.m. and instantly got a gobble. Boy did that fire me up. Heard 31 gobbles between 6:22 and 6:45 when I had to leave for work. They weren't gobbling hot and hard, but they've begun to talk. Crows started in at about 6:35 and that got the birds going some. Heard at least 4 different birds in different places. They didn't echo across the valley, setting each other off, but was good to hear them on my first scouting trip out. Worth every minute of getting up at 4:30 a.m. before going to work. Folks at work think I'm nuts. They just don't understand turkey hunters. What a way to start one's day. Had me fired up the rest of the day. Can't wait for April 18th in Ohio.
