No, I don't have one! But I held one in my hands once at a Gun Show. The seller wanted $600 for it. I didn't believe it was factory. So I didn't buy it. (And I had the money, too.) That was one of my biggest regrets. Because about a week later thru many phone calls and much research, I found that as near as I could find out, they made 50 of them. They also made 50 in .450 Nitro Express. My bad for letting that one slide. ...the9.3guy

9.3,
I know how you feel! I had my nose pickers wrapped around a factory .404 Jeffery that was consigned for $795, and was flawless. Wizard that I am, I offer $100 less, just because. They phone the seller, and he's firm. I figure, heck, nobody will buy it anyway, I'll wait a week, and if he won't budge, I'll buy it anyway. A friend, who works in the gunshop, said a guy came in a couple ours later, took one look at it, and whipped out his check book. I've yet to see one for sale, for much less than double the price!
For a "poor mans .470", you could do as I did with my .458 Tropical. Have it re-chambered( and re-bored for a .470) to a Nitro. I sent mine to JD Jones at SSK, and he did a great job punching mine out to .450 #2. Paying $5 a round, for brass, is something everyone should experience at least once!

Jeff,
I just might have to resort to that. The next year at the same show, another guy had a .404 Jeffrey. Only one I have ever seen. He wanted $1095 for it and wouldn't even budge a bit. I saw that same gun for three years running and he never did sell it. My buddy the #1 collector offered him $850. But if I ever can find a .404, I intend to have it. Altho' the idea of a .450 #2 seems attractive to me.
BTW, What was the turnaround time for getting yours done? ...the9.3guy

Still got the reamer and I am sure another #1 will show. Hey! Got a neat old "Italian Stallion" 10 Ga shotgun!! Double BBL ! Hello!! Is this Montana Rifle Barrels?? I`d like to order two---------------

470 Nitro in an 8.5 lb. rifle? Did seller have one eye missing and a slung shoulder?

I have a Ruger #1 in 470 Nitro made up by Hamilton Bowen he made 5 of them,It does WAKE you up when you pull the trigger but not much worse than a 10 gauge mag with very heavy loads.Chefgun, chefgun@sbcglobal.net

One thing about the 470 Ruger #1 is it is about the least expensive option there is. Chefgun.
