I don't know what to say about ol' Daniels comments, so I'll just let others go forth... I suspect he's a kid, but his grammer was pretty good.
To the OP, I own all 3 of those rounds (well my ".243" is actually a 6mm Rem) and I dearly love them all. If you want a 25-06 then by all means get it. I think you will be pleasantly suprised by its effectivness on deer, and especially elk.

I have all three, the 25-06 is the back up and is rarely used.
If it walks, crawls, swims, or flies...I hunt it.

I have all three of the calibers and I have never even shot my .270. I love the .25-06 and I use the .243 for a coyote hammer. I plan to use the .270 for a donor action to build a 6mm-06, or a .240 WBY Mag

Ive got both a 243 and a 270...as for the 25-06, I have a step up from that, a 25 Gibbs

There is absolutely nothing wrong with "Want." I don't even have a problem with exact duplication. Never hurts to have a spare around.

I have all three. For deer/antelope I prefer a 25 caliber 100 grain bullet at 3300 fps to the 243 and a 100 grain bullet. I use the 243 for coyotes and 25 for deer and coyotes. I actually have two 270's and don't/haven't hunted with either one.

Can't figure this one out but i have a 243 NEF and a 700 in 270 but for years, along with wanting a 35 remington, I have been wanting a 25-06 for a long time!!! Really don't know why, love the ballistics of the 25, less recoil and very flat shooting. anyone else have tihs dilema??? Yes, but I got over it pretty quickly.......the 243 got dumped for the Roberts back in the late 60's,and the 25/06 won't see the time of day as long as there's a 270 within arms reach....... I'm softening a bit on the 243,but only because I have an 8 twist#4 Bartlein barrel sitting here,to set up just for varmints and girl deer......and if I get beat about the head and shoulders enough on here, I might even AI it.......
The 280 Remington is overbore.
The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.

Caliber smaliber, this has nothing to do with the OP wanting a 25-06. This is all about the need to own another rifle. We all suffer from it. Sounds to me like you are "due" another rifle wvhunter. Go git it!!!

In regards to your dilemma,I can see why you may desire a 25/06..It's a gap filler for what you don't have.Great caliber as is the ROB/or AI version..had em both and I agree with the other posters sounds like you're trying to talk yourself into another rifle, then go for it!!! Cornhusker invasion WTH u talkin about? The correction a few of us gave yesterday to a first time poster was accurate and to the point to keep him out of further trouble!!.Yes you were correct the 243's parent case IS the 308/7.62 but that doesn't make it a MILITARY ROUND!!! and if you want debate its lack of effectiveness on deer sized game like the newbie suggested then I'm sure you will have plenty of takers and I would be more than happy to be #1... Oh and BTW I'm a Wv transplant to Ne. via the USAF

I think you better just send it to me, I can put it to use for ya, get rid of the temptation.

Why a 25-06? Because they're so goooood! You're a rifle guy; you HAVE to have one.

The solution to your problem is to buy a 35 Whelen and let the others collect rust/dust in your gun safe. whelennut

Don't know what it is bout 1/4 bore's but they are wonderful medicine on critter's. Bought my first 25-06 12 yrs ago or so. Every deer I shot with it just dropped. I've got all the above caliber's and would not get rid of one for another but have 1/4 bore's from the Bob, Wby to Ackley Improved and love them. Just get one and you won't be sorry.
