I am in love with the Hagn action. I've only seen a few (in magazines) and think they are loverly. They exude pure class. Of course, being a custom, they should. I do like the look of the old Fraser actions, also. I'm of the opinion that was used as a starting point for the Hagn.
I guess I'm a little uninformed on the history of the Hagn, though. Anyone have any information? Are they still being made?

They are alive and well, being made in Cranbrook B.C. Martin Hagn designed and has made the action since the inception. He's has combined his efforts with Ralf Martini (one of the most talented custom gunmakers on the planet) now. I think they actually have changed the name of the business to Martini-Hagn. Holland and Holland, Rigby, and Hartemann-Weiss have all used Hagn singleshot actions for their stalking rifles in the past. I don't know if they still do or not.
I met Ralf at the ACGG show in 2004 and is a fine upstanding fellow who has a ton of patience dealing with customers.
The actions are incredibly strong and can be used to build incredible custom rifles. You can have Martini-Hagn build the rifle for you, just buy a barreled action or even just buy the action "in the white".
You can write or call them for information (very nice brochure and articles) 1264 Jimsmith Lake Road Cranbrook, B.C. V1C 6V6 Canada (250) 417-2926

Yes, Hartmann and Weiss are still making them. They are very expensive but world class, or perhaps in a class all by themselves. Best, John
