Whats your thoughts on the Partition, is it really the perfect hunting bullet?

Will Munny: It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.

The Schofield Kid: Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming.

Will Munny: We all got it coming, kid.

It does all things well that a bullet is supposed to do.

Yes. It is the standard by which all others have been measured for decades and still does the job as well or better than any other bullet out there. Lots are going to say that TSX or TTSX is the perfect bullet, so I see this going for many pages...and then there's the Swift A-Frame, Northfork, Woodleighs, E-tips, GMX, etc.

I agree its about perfect. I've never had or even heard of one failing to expand. They always penetrate and in my experience they have been accurate. I've used them in 22, 24, 25, 26, 28 and 30 calibers. No complaints here...

I used to belive that the .257 100gr Partitions were the best choice for my 250/3000 bolt gun, pushed them about 2950 fps with good enough accuracy and shot a good amount of game with excellant success, but then they started makin' them darned Barnes all copper bullets, seemed to be a better, quicker killer on thin skinned deer and speed goats for me. I would like to hear fron the Elk hunters on this Nosler Partinion topic.

I'd like to hear how they do in the larger calibers as well.

They are good but getting very expensive here in Canada. A box of 50 .375" 300gr is $90 plus tax. By way of comparison a box of Woodleighs is $63 and a box of TSX is about $65-$70.

In my .375HH accuracy of both the 260 and 300 gr. NP was nothing to write home about~ @1.5-2 MOA. The 270 TSX, on the other hand, gave me 7/8" groups.

The NP's do work good on game though (just small and medium bore exp. there).

In Anchorage, the 300 gr. NP's go for $26 a box of 25. The 270 gr. TSX go for $46 a box of 50.

Shawneeboy, I use a very similar load in my 250 bolt gun, with great results too. I use to use the 100 ballistic tip but went to the partition after I had one bad experience with the ballistic tip. I've thought about trying a TTSX but not sure how it could improve on the partition.

180 Partitions from a 300WSM are wicked on deer.

Or as my Native buddy would say, "illa sick".

Wow, the price differences shock me! I always thought they were a little less expensive than the Barnes offerings. No wonder you guys are using them in AK and Canada! For my purposes they are still a little less expensive and work great!

Wacked a cow elk at ~75 yards with my 338RUM, 250 NP (a seconds bullet). It was a frontal uphill shot. Bullet traveled about 36" and stopped just under the hide mid way on the back.

Don't think there is a perfect bullet, but to me the NP is among the very best available.

400 grain Partition from my 416 Rigby. The long shanked one was recovered from wet pack the other 2 from chest cavity shots on Bison

I do not think this bullet in this caliber is tough enough. I shudder to think if I had hit heavy shoulder bone and muscle. These were into the rib cage only broadside and were recovered

250's in 338 caliber have worked well for me shot from a 33 win. I really like the 225 grainTTSX in the 338 win

Not really even a sample?, I've got the Nosler 210grn 338" partition that took my bull elk, it quartered thrue him from the right rear rump to just behind the left front shoulder, typical separation of the front core and they group about an inch from my Ruger M77 338.

Also the Partition's group well under an inch from my Savage 110 270 Winchester, them STINK'N! TSX's wont even group below 3" from that rifle, just my experience, I'll buy no more Barns bullets!

If it was the only premium bullet made I wouldn't have much to bitch about. They tend to shoot very well in a lot of my rifles.

I like some other bullets too, especially Bearclaws. Also, I really don't think I need Partitions for deer though I use some. I guess for me it is not perfect.

Except for my .250-3000 I have a Partiton load or two for all of my big game rifles. That includes .223, 243, .308, 30-06,
308 Norma, .338, and .35 Whelen.
