Which are you more familiar with? That is more than half the battle. If you don't know either or know somebody who does...Wyoming (IMO).

I think your chances are better ot take a nicer bull in WY ,and I live in CO. CO herds are managed for quantity ,not quaity, unles you draw to a trophy area.

thanks for the replies guys. i am undecided each has it's own ups and downs. the wyoming general tag will cost me the big bucks fee because i don't want to burn my points but should be able to pick it up second choice, there is also the no hunting the wilderness with out a guide stuff. they have some great rifle dates a ton of areas in all parts of the state and maybe a chance at better quality bulls. in colorado you are forced to chose one area and there seems to be a fair amount of hunting pressure which isn't always a bad thing.they have some areas with great elk density but lower quality of bulls which i would be happy with any legal bull. no major wolf or grizzlie issues it is a toss up for me on which to choose. i only have four colorado points and also need to decide if i am gonna save for the long haul 61-76 or try a first season or muzzleloader in a easier to draw unit. it helps to get some other thoughts ,thanks.

We started saving CO elk points nine years ago. We decided last year we should try to use them (8) as I was 54 and my brother was 61. After much research we decided on a GMU and an outfitter, but also found that there were not a lot of quality opportunities for that number of points. I don't know your age or situation but if I were to do it again, I'd go muzzleloader every couple of years rather than try to accumulate a lot of points. In the meantime, you could apply for NM or another trophy state and probably do just as well as saving for 61.
BTW, we pretty much wasted our eight points.

I hunt Wyoming and can't say anything bad other than the wolves are a problem chasing the Elk. If you dont care about horn size (can't eat them so I'm told), I would go with Colorado. Much more elk there by far. I hunt Wyoming because my buddy lives there and I can stay for free. Good luck to you.

No, better to head to WY. We certainly need less hunters here in CO!!
