I see that Remington is selling .308 MX ammo at a bit under the price of the Hornady. Have any of you used it and how does it compare to the Hornady? I have not handled any of the Remington but is it as "fast" as the Hornady?

No it's not loaded as fast as Hornady's LE loads, nor can handloaders duplicate Hornady's factory loads for velocity.

Personally I think the 308 ME is a useless cartridge. A 150 grain 30-30 AI can get within 75 fps of a 308 ME handload and regardless of Marlin's marketing hype the ME will never be or equal the 308 Winchester in power, accuracy or popularity.

Hopefully with the new Leverevolution powder from Hodgdon most will get close to factory velocity.

As far as the 308 MX being useless.....that is all opinion. Some don't want the hassle of a 30-30 AI and the 336 series won't handle the pressures of the 308 Win........it definitely has a place for some just not the majority. Take a stroll over at the Marlinowners Website you will see there is plenty of interest!

i had a 300 win. mag shot remington 150 gr. and the shot 150 gr federal the reming was like shooting 270 so my take was it is has less velocity or i just had some bad ammo.in which i must say i have had remington ammo miss fire, and that why i won't shoot it today. good luck
