My dad bought a new Tikka T3 Hunter (wood, blued) a while back in 300 WSM. Last week we stopped on the way back to town for a few minutes to pop a few shots off to see how the recoil was and how it shot. We couldnt do any sighting in because there was still a lot of snow in the gravel pit and we didnt have a lot of time. Anyways, we noticed a weird crease on the case shoulder of the once shot cases. Look at the picture. What do you guys think about this? Do you think he should bring back the rifle on warrenty? Would it shorten case life? Thanks guys, I posted this on the reloading forum too.
Clean it with a chamber brush and try it again. If it still marks the cases take it back. Send a couple of fired cases with it. Don't let anybody screw with it as it might void the warranty.
Have a local 'smith do a chamber cast. If the casting verifies that there is an issue with the chamber, then send the rifle back. Let Tikka (Berrretta) know you have a chamber casting, and what it shows. Send some once fired cases back as well.
