This one is actually mine for a change! Tallahatchie County MS, Duck Camp The duck hunting has been really bad and everything is so dry, so I decided to step out and try my luck at Deer hunting on the 23rd afternoon. We have lots of cover and food for the deer but we are usually completely under 12-30" water this time of yr and the deer don't stick around even though we have several thousand acres of land. Not a bad plan though. Large bodied 3.5+ yr old deer. Weight over 200lb's live. Didn't think he was that big but was a nice deer and with this being my first ever hunt on our Duck property, I decided to take him. Shot was 275 yds, dialed in my CDS turret, steadied on the sticks and fired. I was shooting from the ground off of my Bog Pod sticks. Hit him hard but he didn't go down right away. Headed towards the neighbors treeline and stopped and looked back for a few minutes and I kept thinking he was going to go down but he didn't. He finally angled just enough to where I could get another in him and I put him down with a shot to the base of the neck. Range approx 325-350 on the follow up. 8 pt, 17" wide, 4.5" bases, and scores right at 127". Really doesn't look that big in the pics or in person and I was surprised myself at the score. He benefits from 22" beams on both sides. I've killed bigger but I really enjoyed this one since it was my first ever hunt on the Duck club land. Gun was my faux NULA .270 shooting Nosler 140gr AB's at 3090 fps. Scope was Leupold VX3 4.5-14 x40 with CDS turret

Very handsome buck, Ebby!
Love the shape, nice mass, and the long beams that come way around.
Big bodied deer sometimes have more antler than it seems - nice to have a little ground growth instead of shrink!
Congrats, and thanks for sharing your hunt with us!

Great looking buck and enjoyed the write up...Tell my Uncle I said hey if you see him.

I sure will. Haven't see him in a while but I am going to be over there a lot more in the coming months. Probably 4-5 days a week so I'm sure I'll run into him. Lee
