My 4 5/8" Blackhawk .41mag has Hogue Rubber Mono grips, an old Bullseye spring kit, and a Bisley hammer. It is new model, but the old smaller frame. Light and smooth. I also have a SS Taurus Mod 415 ported snubnose in .41mag.
I do not own a .44 or .357 anymore. I have a 5 1/2" Bisley in .45LC and a Glock G20 in 10mm. The are my only other big bores.

Count me in .......One each - S&W M57 6", S&W 357PD, S&W 657 6.5", Freedom Arms 7.5", and a Ruger Redhawk 5.5". Love the .41.....have two 357s and no .44s. Nothing against the .44, just have'nt found the "need"(do have a .45 colt in a Ruger Blackhawk and a .454 in a Super Redhawk). PennDog

jwp,
Yes, it sound like the 41mag gives a little more muscle than the 357mag with a little less recoil than the 44mag.
Sorta of the perfect middle ground for outdoorsman use.
Not sure of the muzzle blast? The 357mag can really rock in that area!!

The 41 doesn't seem to have any more muzzle blast than a <4" 357.
I too am somewhat surprised it hasn't gained more popularity. As leomort said, it seems to be the perfect middle ground for general outdoorsman use. I wish 657s were more bountiful on the used market...one day I'll find the right deal on one.

I went to buy a few guns this weekend from a lady who's husband recently passed away, and she pulled out a wooden box with a new, unfired 41 magnum, S&W Model 57 nickel plated with a 8 3/8" barrel...She wanted $400 for it..I have no idea what these are worth, but I bought it.

My favorite also. My first was a redhawk 5 1/2" and have since added a SBH 7 1/2" and blackhawk 6 1/2". I took my deer a couple of years ago with one shot from the SBH. No other large bore handguns!

A 6 1/2" Blackhawk was my second handgun, first revolver, after a Ruger 22 auto. That was 25 years ago. I've shot a lot of handloads built with nothing more a little Lee Loader. It's not a very fast way to arrive at the desired result, but it sure seemed like fun then. I still have that $5 Lyman mold (#410421, I think) which I bought when Cabelas was "downsizing" and getting out of reloading stuff (????) And it still makes great bullets which are just as fun as ever to shoot with Unique, or perhaps better these days, 800-X.
