Didn't the Remington Model 30 come in 25 and 30 Rem once?

I believe that the Remington 30 was chambered for the whole family of Remington rimless cartridges; 25, 30, 32, and 35, plus 257 Roberts, 30-06, and maybe 270.

Ya, the "final" classic should be a really classic cartridge, but I'd vote for the 256 Newton if they asked me.

I wouldn't go less than 22" on barrel length. The 110gr TSX occupies a lot of powder capacity in a standard COAL cartridge. This round needs some length to get to 2800fps. I think 23" may be the best solution.

QuickLoad says SAAMI pressure is 60191, which is higher than the parent cartridge. That helps.

My Remington 600 Mohawk in 6.8 is going to be a creek bottom deer and called coyote rifle, so shorter might be better for my applications. I don't need to maximize the velocity potential of this rifle, since I have dozens of rifles that fill (and overlap) all of the hunting niches that I participate in.
