Well guys how are ya doing. I need to expound on your knowledge and see what you fellas think about these 3 rifles. I don't really know the accuracy of them, and I wanted to know what you thought. I found a 10/22 SS with a 3-9 scope for $200, and I have found another Marlin that a friend wants to sell. I mainly want to use it for squirel hunting and prarie dog shooting. Maybe some coyotes or something. Also what about the Marlin 7000. I haven't really heard anything about it. Well expound on me please. Thanks guys. Ryan

Well first I'm not so sure I'd want ta shoot yotes with a 22lr. Alittle undergunned, maybe a 22mag.
As for the aforementioned rifles I can only give ya a thumbs up on the Marlin 880SQ. I've been usin one that I purchased last spring for squirrels and can tell ya it shoots tiny grps!!
I'm shootin dime sized five shot grps at 50yds consistently with several brands of ammo it likes. For the money you'll be hard pressed ta find a more accurate squirrel slayer. I've talked ta many happy SQ owners!!
Just my experiences.

Thanks for the input Swift. I know that the 22lr is a little small but I have killed quite a few coyotes with it, as well as bobcats, and several other LEGAL animals. It is just like anything else, you have to pick your shot and have them pretty close. I would rather use my 22-250 for the dogs but sometimes you use what you have with you. I have heard good things about the SQ so that is the one that I am leaning twards. Thanks again, Ryan

10/22 is the only answer you need especially if you happen to be lucky enough to find a walnut stocked one. otherwise a ss 10/22.
I have a few 10/22's in many configurations. These can be made to be the best shooting semi-autos around. Many of the older ones have pretty good triggers, pre lawyer design. After market stuff abounds for them. Forget the rest just get a Ruger.

I have had great luck with my 10/22. I bought mine back in 86 at a gun show in CA. It is an old walnut stocked one and it is a shooter. Never had problem one with it. I helped E4E put over a million rounds through his 10/22 when we were kids and it was still shooting decent groups when he finally sold it. To me, that speaks for it self. Good luck man.

Thanks fellas, I just bought a stainless Ruger 10/22 rifle not the carbine. This one has a 22 in barrel. It also has the checkered walnut stock. I found it new and they just wanted to get rid of it so I had no choice. I didn't think that $195 was that bad since they wanted $160 for the blued carbine. Thanks again for the help. Have any of you all seen a rifle like this? I hadn't. Ryan

Actully from the top gun 22 tests. 1st place would be the marlin, 2nd the Ruger and way 3rd the remington.
Have a good look at the CZ-452, my personal choice for a light squirrel rifle.

I agree with John.
Out of the box adding only a simple Bushnell 4X Sportview scope.
My 9 year old will make sub 1/4" mickey mouse heads with my Marlin Model 70 all day long at 50 to 75 yards.
If you have a older Ruger they are good but I gave up after trying the newer 10/22s. My 10/22s with the same scope could not do as good. Only maybe 1" was the best if everything was perfect. Eventually I sold off all my 10/22s for bolt actions.
On the other hand thats not bad and the 10/22 will feed rocks reliably.
