I let a friend at work use my 223 this year. I loaded him 50gr Vmax for play and 53gr TSX to hunt with. My instructions on the "pointy one" and the "one with grooves" wasn't that clear I guess? Anyway he shot several deer with the Vmaxes and tells me they did better than the other bullets. Now I'm no saying that but I couldn't make him believe a TSX is better due to his results?.........I would rather hunt the TSX but...... I'm bettin.... that vmax could bite you sooner or later.... No Sir not going to bit "me". You'll notice I gave him instructions to use the TSX. Also notice I ended with I would rather hunt with the TSX.

The 60gr Hornady SP and 63gr Sierra SMP are both available locally. Any advantage of one vs the other? The 63 has always shot well much more easily that the 60s in any form. I like both the 63 Sierra and the 64 PowerPoint; good bullets, both.

I think I'll get a box of the 60gr Hornadys and a box of 63gr Sierras and go with the best shooters...

I shot Norma factory loads in my 220 Swift with 55 grain bullets. Never paid attention then to the bullet make but it certainly knocked the Whitetails down where they stood.
By the way, in case you missed it, Jeremiah was a bullfrog.

I use 70gr Speers with good luck. The semi-spitzer makes a short bullet for weight and will stabilize in a 22/250 14" twist bbl. Just bought 200 more before Christmas.

Am I the only one here who hasn't been able to get the 60 partitions to shoot? It is pretty common to hear of people having problems getting them to shoot. I was lucky, my 22 250 1/14 shoots them quite well.

I gave up on the 60 grain partitions. The 65 grain SGK's work fine for me.

The Partitions shoot great (under 1" at 100 yards) from my son's Stevens 200. I havn't tried them in any other rifles. My only complaint is price.

LBP, when is your next deer hunt?
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I'll be out Mon, Tue, and Wed here at my place. I can still take does and spikes thru 01-16-11. My 6 yo can still take an antlered buck thru the 16th as well. I took another spike with the 223 since we talked last and my 9 yo did as well...

I am going to send you some bullets to try. I'd like to see how they perform on deer. I'll pm you.

Although I am a dedicated Partition fan this one doesn't shoot accurately enough in the Swift or 22-250 to make the shots I need to make. A 63 Sierra will work for what I want, though. Wayne
