Guys, I am building a hunting rifle that will have an Edge BDL stock that will have a #3 countour 23" Broughton barrel (chambered in .270 win). Do you think it's going to be nose heavy? I'm using a Pierce long action for the build.

Anyone have a similar build?

Does Broughton make anything smaller than a No. 3? I didn't see anything listed on their website. My personal preference in an Edge stock is for a No. 2 or so, which most manufacturers list as finishing at .600". The Broughton No. 3 is slightly heavier at .620", so I think it'll end up slightly nose heavy, but not bad.

I've got a Borden Timberline 300 Win with a 25" #4 fluted in an EDGE Classic and it balances right at the front screw.

Why is it called a double u, should'nt it be called a double v?

I Just picked mine up on Friday from John. Pierce action with a 23" Broughton #3.05 contour (260 Rem) in a McM Edge Remington Hunter stock. Rifle weighs 7lbs with Talley lightweights. Balances in the middle.

Tim's 3.05 contour has a shorter cylinder and quicker taper than his regular #3.

The Rem Hunter stock definitely looks a little wide with a #3 in it but it feels soooooo good!

BTW after finishing break in I dumped some RL 19 in some cases behind some 140gr Matchkings, fired a fouling shot then put the next 4 into .312".

Just finished a 257 AI with a Brux barrel. Finished at 22" with .640 muzzle diameter. It's wearing a Mtn Rifle Edge ADL stock and it's not muzzle-heavy at all. Balances just in front of the front action screw with a Leupold 2.5-8x scope. It's got no lightweight parts....just factory Remington. Of course....Mine's SA and yours is LA...so YMMV.

Here's the thread when it was wearing a Minox 3-9 scope.

405wcf - how long did it take for you to get the Broughton and your rifle from John? I'm at about 3 1/2 months on mine. John is waiting on the barrel still.

I have a Rem 700, with a Broughton #3 chambered in 270 win 24" barrel pillar bedded in a Mcm Classic edge it's slightly nose heavy but not bad at all!
