My nephew got for a Xmas present last year a Remington 770 rifle. Since that time, he has managed to break the sling swivel that is built into the rifle's forearm.
How close is the 770 to the 700 as far as replacement stocks go?
Does anyone make replacement stocks for the 770?
Thanks is advance.

kyreloader,
I don't think you will get too many responses on your question. Not many 770 lovers here but to my knowledge there are no replacement stocks for them.

Call Remington about a replacement.
Most people don't really want the truth.
They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.

Yep...they are nowhere close to a 700, call Remmy for a replacement or get out the epoxy...

A third option is to check out Brownells and Midway for parts, to see if they sell the eschones ( of what ever they call those things) where the swivel sling attaches.
a local store here use to sell them for about 50 cents a piece. they decided to stop carrying them, and I bought about $5.00 worth, because they were selling the remainder for 15 cents a piece.
Like Take a Ruger Zytel boat paddle stock. can't attach a bipod to them. I just drilled a small hole in the front of the stock and screwed one of these it.
I also did two for a buddy's 770 in 300 Win Mag. He didn't like the gun tho, and ended up trading it off ( and I got my eschons back) for a Savage in 308, that someone had screwed up a trigger job on. So he put a new aftermarket trigger in the Savage, and life is good again.

Unless Remington can help you, I think that you are SOL since the 710 family of rifles is unique.

JEff I advised my dad against buying the 770, but he is all about what was the cheapest. I can definitely say I told you so now.
