How do they compare to say Zeiss Conquest? The specs look impressive for the cost. Nowhere around these parts to check one out.

Which model do you have?

I've been curious about the ZA5 4-20x50 and the 3-15x42... I've been thinking of scopes for a .220 Swift M77V (the 20x) and a .257 Weatherby and a 6.5 Creedmoor (the 15x). I have read a few reviews of the 2.5-10 that weren't so complimentary, and it has me a little concerned.

I do have a ZA3 3-9 that hasn't been mounted yet, but what little playing around with it I have done, it seems like good stuff.

have a za-5 3-15x42 on a 25-06 that works very well for me, other scopes i have are conquests, the 4x14x44 conquest that i have is a little sharper than the minox i have, but also costs alot more. for the money i think the za-5 is a good deal, i can shoot very well for as far as the 400 yards i limit myself to.

I ordered a Minox Z5 2-10x40 w\bdc recticle from Doug this week and will be checking it out against my Conquest 3-9x40 with the Z600 recticle.

After looking at the spec's and hearing praises from happy Minox owners I took the plunge. Besides costing $$$ less they are listed as 3.5 oz lighter than the Conquest I have been using. I have had 6 Conquests over the years with Plex, ML and Z600 recticles so I am interested to see how the Minox stacks up.

More next week after

I have a Z3 3-9x40 BDC. Works great and hash marks are right on for my .243. Glass as good as my Conquests and probably slighter better than my VX3's.

I ordered 2 of those and mounted the first on a 257 AI and headed to the range. I had several rifles that I had to zero, including my son's for a deer hunt that next weekend, and decided to stick a Leupold VXIII 2.5-8x in the bag "just in case". I'm glad I did that, because I ended up taking the Minox off my rifle at the range and subbing the Leupy.

I shot about 6 shots at 50 yards with the Minox after lasersighting. Gun was on paper, but needed adjustment. The adjustments didn't seem to work for me, and the final straw came when the last two shots went into the same hole after making a decent adjustment for windage in between shots. Leupold worked fine....the first time.

I also noticed that the tube had some good ring marks both fore and aft. I was using Talley lightweights as I do on all of my rifles and I never had a Leupold tube give like that.

I have the other Minox mounted on a Rem 25-06 that I hope to try out at the range tomorrow. I love the glass.....But I just want to be confident in the adjustment knobs before I take it out in the field. If the second works okay, I'll send the first back to Minox for repair. If not, I guess I'll send them both back.

Bought a Minox, not impressed. The power ring is stiff, the view was surrounded by the "black donut." The windage and elevation controls felt cheap, and the windage had play in the dial itself.

If you think you are getting German quality for half the price, think again...

Update........Mounted my other Minox on a 25-06 and sighted it in today. All went well and adjustments seemed to be right on and bullet impact changed immediately. I guess I'll send my other one back and see what happens.

For those with the 3-15x42mm, what reticle do you have? For those that have seen both the BDC and ER BDC, what's your opinion? I'm looking to scope a .257 WBY and am leaning towards the BDC, the ER BDC looks like it might be too thin for my preference in a hunting rifle.

Thanks for all the replies. Still not sure I would stray from the Zeiss Conquest. They are hard to beat for the $$.

Not saying a bad scope is impossible from anyone... But after handling every scope Minox makes, including taking off the covers and spinning dials, there was nothing even close to loose. They feel like good stuff, period.

I ran one pretty hard last summer getting ready for an elk hunt. I did a lot of shooting at plates from 100-600 yds. I never saw anything quirky or less than functional in the scope.

I actually read more than one report on other sites about the cheap turrets. Function and feel may be two different things, but I don't like play in my optics.

Given your luck with equipment, you would do well to avoid them.
