lookin to rebarrel from the 18 inch 9 twist to a 7 so I can use the new 80 gr bullets,

it does shoot the 69 Sierra fine now,but the 80 bergers hit the target sideways

I will mostly be using the 70 Berger or 75 Hornady BTHP from the magazine,,whichever shoots the best,

but I want to be able to use the 80 AMAX or Berger at longer range sometimes,,

is 20 inches plenty of bbl or should I get 24 for the heavier bullets

I shoot 75 gr Hornady BTHP over 21.4 grains of H322 from a 20 in 1in8 bbl and they are phenomenally acurate. Sorry I havn't chrono'd them yet. Not sure how many fps you'd gain or if it's really worth the extra long tube. Depends on what you want it for.

I want it to get best accuracy I can to 600 yards,,I know windage and elevation are gonna have to be doped in so I just need the best accuracy I can get,,

I plan to try a little harder with the 70 Bergers with the factory bbl until I can get the money to pay for the bbl,,

I already have the gun and 4.5-14 LR scope with 30mm tube 40mm lens that had the M1 knobs and B&C reticle added from Leupold custom shop later.I need about 25-30MOA taper mounts to keep the scope in the middle when zeroed at 600 so I dont limit my windage adjustments ,

I'm pretty sure that accuracy isn't determined by bbl length. You can have an equally accurate 18,20 or 24 inch bbl. The only thing you will gain is velocity. That means a slightly flatter tragectory. A few clicks less on the scope to get to the same point. Not really any more accurate, only different dope.

will the 20 inch throw the 75-80 gr bullets fast enough to stay supersonic at say 750-800 yards??

I'll have to defer to the opinion of someone with a little more expertise on that but I am almost certain the 20 in bbl will do the job. I have an 800 yard range but it's been bitter cold here and I'm waiting for the weather to break to try it out. Here is a pic of what the 75 gr Hornady HPBT are doing at 300 yds. The spot I was shooting at is out of the picture because the 75s hit 6 inches higher than the 68 grainers I had it zeroed for. I'm sure I'll have no problem reaching out there. That's 5 shots.
