My first deer rifle, a model 94 trapper I found under the Christmas tree when I was 14. My dad wasn't a hunter, and cared little about guns, but somehow he knew exactly what I lusted for. I hunted with that rifle exclusively until I was about 22. I took three of my first five bucks with it. It doesn't see much use anymore, but I try to take it out every season for a hunt or two. Lots of memories in that steel and walnut.

I have messed around and made a light load and got it right on at 100yards. Like to take along to the range and fling some lead and catch the shells if I remember to tilt it away so they don't fly up in my face! Several more rifles have made it home with me in the past few months and a few have gone out to those around the Campfire, but this one's the favorite. Grandpa was born in 1910; he dragged my first buck off the mountain for me when he was 70. OT

That is uber-kewl, both rifle and story.

Thanks Vic_in_VA... Cheers! OT

This is my favorite...My Great Grandfather's 2nd year production Win 70 in .270 Win with 7/8" Lyman Alaskan 2.5X scope. I don't hunt with it much but when I finally get a sheep tag, and am unsucessful with my bow, this rifle will come along.

That right there is a neat rifle. I'm sure it could tell some stories.

Easy one the Savage 99 300 savage my Uncle left to me when he pasted. 24" barrel and a forearm with a schnoble tip.

I have used it back in PA for a couple of whitetails, I wouls use it out here if I could get it to shoot Barnes TSX better.

It's this 1907 Winchester factory 1885 Scheutzen in 38-55. Deadly accurate and fun to shoot.

I have a lot of trouble with the concept of favorite rifle; it might be the last one I built, or the next one...

But if it is defined as the last one I would sell, it is this Kimber .22lr that I restocked.

This was a hard one for me.

I've got a gorgeous Pre 64 M70 in 257 Roberts that thus far is not a tack driver.
[Linked Image]

I've got a tack driving, purpose built 6.5x47 on a Pierce action, Broughton barrel in a McMillan Rem Sporter stock. Looks are, well, "ok".
[Linked Image]

I've got another purpose built Rem 700 in 30-06 AI that is super light but ugly as the action is camo painted and the barrel is bare SS.
[Linked Image]

It would have to be my Alaska purpose built, great looking Pre 64 M70 in 9.3x62 in a D'Arcy Echols Legend stock and is incredibly accurate. Built by Redneck and finished by Charley Santoni. Pacnor #3 SS barrel, Leupold QR rings/bases holdng a VX3 1.75-6, Midnight Purple Cerakote metal finish. Weight is 8 lb 3 oz.
[Linked Image]

It likes both 286 gr Partitions and 250 Accubonds.
