After years of not owning a 222, I picked up another one.
Would anyone like to say what their most accurate load is?

Well, given the .222's reputation for NOT being fussy, this might be a shorter thread if folks posted the loads that did NOT result in fine accuracy! smile

I will try to look up some of my loads and post them for you later (but do not expect them to be useful to you: most of mine use Vihtavuori or Norma powders because I am in Sweden). I have had best luck with bullets less than 53 gr too.

John
PS: you have admitted to getting a new rifle, but failed to post pictures -- I think that goes against 'Campfire rule #2! smile

Yeah, what kind of riffle did you get?

Anyway, 22.2gr H322 over 50gr Sierra Blitz's, and magtech primers.

I got a short throat on this gun, so the bullets are jammed into the lands on a short OAL. It's a 12 twist Shaw barrel on a mini mauser action.

Calculations backed in from drops show an MV of approx 3300, and I can shoot a 4" group at 300 yards off my truck hood.

Similar results in accuracy with v-max's and nosler BT's but I like the terminal performance of the blitz's on more durable targets of opportunity.

Not the fastest but damned accurate in a couple different 222s

Since I use mine for everything from rabbits to deer, I like heavier bullets. My load uses Speer 70 gr. Semi-Spitzers over a compressed load of H414/Winchester 760.

Over the years and several .222's my most successful (accurate) load was about any 50 Gr. bullet with RL7.

I don't know about most accurate, but 22 grains of 10x and a 50 grain bullet is a decent load that can go upwards with great accuracy maintained;

RL-7 and the 4198's run well too, with smaller charges.

23 grains of 10x and a forty does the same thing.

BlitzKings or V-Maxes...

BT99: I have a super accurate Remington 40XB-BR in caliber 222 Remington. It has a Leupold 24 power target scope on it.
I am currently shooting its newest "favorite" (most accurate) loading which uses Berger 52 grain bullets, Federal brass, Federal 205M (match) primers and H 322 powder.
Best of luck with your new 222!

I also have had great luck with H322. This summer I plan to again try some old tried and true IMR4198 and H4198 with 50 & 40gr bullets in my 722's for woodchucks. The .222 is my absolute favorite caliber. Good luck, Peter.

I've used 25.0 grs of BL-C2 with WSR primers, and 50 gr Hornady V-max moly for years in a mid-60's vintage Rem 700 for outstanding accuracy & performance.
