I have seen both 1-12 and 1-14 twist advertised for the early VSSF swifts, the no palm swell, single front swivel guns.

Found a co-worker here in Upstate with one for a decent price, looking but not warmed up to the swift over my 2 12 twist 223's.....

Thanks

Allen

just a guess,,I'd bet on 14 twist. Irregardless, it will stabilize 50 and 55 grainers.

A 220 Swift is a QUANTUM leap over a 223, in velocity.
I think you really need to reconsider and buy it if it's in good shape.. grin Either that or a 22-250.

Never seen a Remmie Swift in anything other than 1-14" and I had the VSSF Swift,as soon as they hit the shelf.

A 1-8" 22-250AI is where it's at on a .473"....................

I had one, it was one of the most accurate factory rifles that I ever owned. Had a 14" twist and would handle any 55 grain spitzer made didn't shoot the 60 grains bullets as well never tried anything heavier.

It will sling 'em alright all over the place probably mostly sideways and then end over end. It'll handle up to 55's but that about it.

God it pains me cry to agree on anything from SlickySticky. 15 and 50s work good. They did have optional 12 twist the first year or two, but they are rare. 14 twist is most likely.
