Oh GOOD..... Bob picks the Steelers..

Pack wins in a blowout now.. laugh laugh

I still believe the Bears game was the toughest they'll face of the last two.. As long as McCarthy actually let's 'em PLAY, GB should win by an easy 10..

Some of the Steelers are getting a little old for the game.

Palamalu with the sprained Achilles tendon has not been up to his usual standard during the playoffs to this point. Ward has 13 years in the league, and while he still comes thru in the clutch is not his old self. The secondary is hot and cold.

The center Pounsey needs to heal up if the offensive line is to dominate.

IMO their aging, along with an inconsistent offensive line, was evident in the second half against the Jets when they had to go all out for four quarters.

They have squeaked out or just held on for a couple wins this year. They are not the dominating Steelers of old. I've seen both and there is a difference.

Baltimore and the Jets were the two most physical back to back games of the year and IMO the Jets was the more so when it came to hitting. That second half with the Jets may weigh on them heavily.

The Steelers are going to need the two weeks to heal and rejuvenate.

Being from the Burgh I'm a Steeler fan, but I doubt if it will be all the easy to pull this one out. Hope I'm wrong, but I'm thinking the book got it right.

Addition: Look for Harrison to play "old school." He will pay the fine to wear the ring.

Even if the Pack does not come out on top in the SB, this season has surpassed my expectations that took a nose-dive in the first few weeks with the vast number of injuries to starters. When so many quality players and starters started dropping like flies on the field, my hopes for a good season were starting to fade.....

Guys playing top-notch football now were not even playing in week #1. Quite an injury list to have to deal with...

12/31/10 Marshall Newhouse G back IR Expected return September 11, 2011
12/18/10 Anthony Smith S ankle IR Expected return September 11, 2011
11/30/10 Spencer Havner TE hamstring IR Expected return September 11, 2011
11/30/10 Brandon Chillar LB shoulder IR Expected return September 11, 2011
11/12/10 Mark Tauscher T shoulder IR Expected return September 01, 2011
10/27/10 Brad Jones LB shoulder IR Expected return September 11, 2011
10/26/10 Brady Poppinga LB knee IR Expected return September 11, 2011
10/26/10 Mike Neal DE shoulder IR Expected return September 11, 2011
10/18/10 Jermichael Finley TE right knee IR Expected return September 11, 2011
10/15/10 Nick Barnett LB wrist IR Expected return September 11, 2011
10/13/10 Derrick Martin S knee IR Expected return September 01, 2011
10/10/10 Jermichael Finley TE knee Day-to-Day Expected return September 11, 2011
10/07/10 Morgan Burnett S knee IR Expected return September 11, 2011
09/14/10 Ryan Grant RB ankle IR Expected return September 11, 2011
09/14/10 Justin Harrell DE torn left ACL IR Expected return September 04, 2011
09/04/10 Allen Barbre T back IR Expected return September 11, 2011
08/10/10 Josh Bell CB foot IR Expected return September 11, 2011
Johnny Jolly DE Expected return September 11, 2011

Given the fact they are without many key players including 7 starters AND despite that, won all playoff games on the road, I am happy. smile

Here on the stateline and an hour or so northwest of Chicago, we have a 50-50, maybe 60-40 split Bears-Packers fan split.
To folks in this area, the SB was last Sunday, as the bragging rights for the next 70 years were just played out.
For Packers fans in the area, a Super Bowl win over the Steelers would be a great thing, but not a necessity, as no one expected them to even get into the playoffs (especially after the humiliating loss in Detroit)

Even the Packer-haters have to admit that this team showed an incredible resiliency given the devastating injury reports. Green Bay recovered from it, as an awful lot of it occurred in the beginning of the season. Another good team, the Colts, experienced similar injury reports, but way too late in the season to advance in the playoffs.

This game is way too close to call- the Super Bowl has probably never experienced two teams so evenly matched on both sides of the ball. The only advantage is special teams to the Steelers.

By the numbers:

Pittsburgh beat 14 teams with an average winning percentage of .461, while the Packers beat 13 teams with an average winning percentage of .523. The Steelers lost to 4 teams with an average winning percentage of .718, while the Packers lost to 6 teams with an average winning percentage of .580.

The Packers lost all of their games by 4 points or less, while losing 16 players to injured reserve, 8 of which had started at least one game. Green Bay lost a combined 85 games by opening-day starters who have been injured. They've also lost a combined 74 games to backups who have helped them at some point this season.

The Steelers have won their 2 playoff games by an average of 6 points, while the Packers won their 3 playoff games by an average of 13 points. The winning percentage of Pittsburgh's defeated playoff rivals was .703, the Packer's .673.

The Packers had to win five games to get into the Super Bowl, and won by an average of 14.8 points. Those five teams they beat had an average winning percentage of .663.

If Rogers get hot, it will be a very long day for the Steelers secondary. A whole lot of fire power there. Green Bay goes up big, and quick, it'll be a similar game to the Atlanta game. Tough to catch up when favoring the run. A couple of stops on your offense, and you are behind even more. The Packer O-line performance will tell the story in this.
