Hi, my name is Les and I am fairly new to fly fishing. My best friend and I are headed to Colorado in June to fly fish but have never fished in CO. Would anyone have suggestions on good places to fish in CO. I'd appreciate any feedback from anyone....Also, does anyone here have any old gear they need to move fairly cheap. I'm really on a budget but need a new reel for a 5 weight rod that a friend gave me. Let me know if you have anything. Thanks for reading!!

Where in Colorado are you headed?

If you can narrow it down somewhat from the whole state, you'll probably get better responses.

I used to live in SW Colorado. There are some great spots there, as I'm sure there are around the state.

Try a Google search. You may well find a forum or two that deal specifically with Colorado.

Have fun!

Thanks Coldbore! We hav not narrowed it down, our plan is to work our way up from OK so that's put SW and south central well within our target zone, so I would love to hear what you have to say spots in SW. Thanks again!!

Poudre river near the north end if you're in Northern CO.
Black Canyon of the Gunnison if you're in the Western part.
Delores river and gound hog Resevior if you're in the South.
South Platte if you're in the mid mtns.

The little creeks you'll have to find on your own.

The water is too high most of June on the Conejos and there are no fish there anyway.

Just a very nice river in Southern CO and I beleive it runs into Northern New Mexico. Nice size and quantity of fish. I have fished it several times and really enjoy it.

The Conejos is all in Colorado.

If they get the snow pack they've had the last few years, and if I were going to go, I'd go in late June at the earliest.

7mm08Okie,

Where do you live in Oklahoma? I used to live in Colorado and sold hunting and fishing gear up there. I'm in the OKC area and may be able to hook you up. Let me know

As the crow flies, it's not too far, but if you're gonna hump it out of the canyon and over the hill, it's a hell of a long ways. smile

Still no fish there.
