Looks like a keeper even with the mount, not sure what the A means though?

Its a post scope too! someone really wanted that rifle scoped, the rear sight is a winchester with a elevator button. foxnut, you really should get that buttplate off, if its legit like this rifle, you will be missing out on a rare 99. Don

Loggah, I am going to give him a call tomorrow and see if he'll remove the butt plate. The price is probably higher than most would pay but if the butt plate matches I would be willing to go there! Thanks for posting your pics. The gun I looked at was a take down but the butt stock with the cresent butt plate and pistol grip looked just like yours. Thanks for your help

You need to rely less on your screwdrivers and more on knowledge...either that wood belongs on that rifle or it don't.

WTF...who gets to take a screwdriver to a nice double gun before they buy it? Why would you expect anyone to let you adulter a nice rifle with a screwdriver before you bought it? Either the wood is correct or it ain't. LOOK! The answer is right there....no wizardry to it at all. Called fit and finish.

Jed, Personally i like knowing if a gun is "RIGHT" not just guessing!!Savage put them together with screws,i can take them apart with screws if i want to !!! besides anyone not capable of taking a buttplate off with the correct screw driver, maybe shouldnt be trusted to own a gun much less load it and fire one !!! , half the information gotten here on the forum is from someone checking the numbers on the forearm ,and or buttplate. I don't have to check my other rifle makes ,they weren't as redundant as savage and put numbers all over them. Don

There is no guess work if one knows what they're looking at. Did Pete Harvey let you rip into that 25-35 I sent you after a while back? Did you ask to? Why or why not? Could you tell the rifle was right just by looking at it? Yeah. Me too.
