Casey, don't know if you're right or wrong and I'm not looking to argue with you (I save that for Eremicus ). I only did a quick search for Remington Custom Shop grade C and came across a 250 Savage that sold for 1500 and a 30/06 that looked kinda plain that sold for $1199. I didn't see anything that was less than $1199. I'm sure if someone searched hard enough they could find where someone sold one for less than a grand, especially in today's market with folks hurting for cash.

Here's a 1980 vintage C Grade 25-06 started at $2000. Let's see if anybody actually......puts a bid on it. It's got 3 days to go. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=215532421Casey

Maybe I'm off on price by $200-$300 (I'm cheap that way).........
A $1000-$1200 may be selling price for a C Grade. I always wonder how many times they are offered for sale before somebody actually buys it.
There are currently 3 C Grades on Gunbroker priced between $2000-$3000, but no bidders. One of those are advertised as brand new.

I've seen CDL's and BDL's with better wood than that.

S/A, uncommon caliber, classic style stock, all desirable traits currently. It certainly adds to the street value. Casey

I have an idea. Have shrapnel list one for $1500 and he won't let it go for $1499.99. Don't recall that man ever lowering the price of anything even after relisting many many times.

Yep. I'm not real crazy about the grain flow in the wrist, but the total amount of figure and color is nice. Interesting that the stock has no grip cap or tip added.

A steel grip cap and an ebony forend tip would have been a nice touch

I didn't even know that the custom shop used what looks like their Classic pattern stock. Truly gorgeous!

Yup, their website doesn't begin to relect what's available. The C grade is offered with either a straight comb or the MC humper.

olgrouser,
Since you are purchasing only you know what the rifle is worth TO YOU. I assume you have seen the rifle in question. To some, having a rifle that is in very low supply is worth a premium.
If the asking price is way higher than your tolerance, just walk away. But then it will likely show up in some later post of yours as ONE I SHOULDN'T HAVE LET GET AWAY!
Have fun making your decision.
Jim

There are dozens of used BDLs on Gunbroker completed auctions, that either sold or didn't even draw a bid at under $500. Bullschit. LOOK at those auction listings. Don't confuse plastic stocked SPS and ADLs with BDLs There are NO walnut stocked BDLs that sell for less than $500 on that site regularly. The ones that get "no bids" have RESERVE prices over $500 them have reserve price(Which is why nobody bid). Hell, a brand new NIB BDL now costs over $750 wholesale. Since you find it hard to read facts, I've listed only the WOOD stocked Remington BDLs that have sold or been listed with NO RESERVE at $500 or under from only the FIRST search page. These include 30-06, 7mag, 300mag, 204Ruger, 270, 6mm, 243, and 308. One of them was even a nice Mountain rifle mis-listed. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=200266543http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=203644950http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=213513838http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=201513724http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=202338923http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=213650554http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=202589070http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=201182643http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=213092734http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=215747331http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=206933709http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=211022920http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=212582344http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=213071635http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=210623700http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=199853036http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=206353066http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=212481820

Gentlemen, excuse me. Running basic searches on Google or Gunbroker is within anyones capabilities. I'm still looking for NEW information on "C" grade Remington rifles or fresh details on early custom 700s that I'm not able to gather from my own reference catalogs. Thanks. Jim, I've committed to buying the rifle because so few of them come to market in Canada. If a custom shop 250 Savage, as mentioned earlier, came up for sale north of the border, I'd be on it like "a fat kid on a Smartie!"
