On the lease I will be hunting SW of Laredo the ranch manager has seen one or multiple lions. I'm gonna go down and try to call em up if he continues to see them. He has had some calf kills and seen some mature deer that he said couldn't have been killed by yotes and sent me pictures of tracks. I'm gonna get a fawn decoy and whatever hand calls I need. What other calls may get em in? Would hanging a bait work on these like leopards?

You better know what your hunting for. Several species of cats are protected. Do some homework and have fun. Tom

Not mountain lions or bobs right? If I see a jaguar or the fabled "jagurundi" or whatever I'll hold fire. What else would I run into?

SW of Laredo? Isn't that old Mexico? I'd be on the lookout for drug cartels, kidnappers, and bandidos! Bring lots of ammo and body armor.

Man, your best bet for seeing a lion in South Texas is to spend as much time in the blind as you possibly can. Most lions are killed from blinds while guys are deer hunting. If you're on a good lease with high chapparral and a good blind, just take some food and drinks and spend the whole day in the blind, from before sunrise till just after sunset. It's still wildass country down there and there's no tellin' what you'll see.
Every day on this side of the ground is a win.

I love it down there. I never run out of critters to shoot on that place. Last three day hunt I shot a nice 10 pt buck, coyotes, doves, quail, blues and bobs, javellina, and hogs. I hope that cat sticks around till I get a chance to call it. My bad on location it is SSE of laredo. We are a few miles from the border.

What ranch are you hunting? I spend a lot of time flying that area and have seen a few cats recently close to the river. I am not sure if they are in the same area you will be at, but let me know and I will keep an eye out for you.

I've always wanted to try baiting with a live small wild hog. Just haven't had the chance yet. You'll prob see more yotes than anything else though. Good luck.

Surely you are mistaken. According to one of our local, liberal news people, the border area on our side is quiet and peaceful. El Paso has alot fewer murders than Sacramento California, etc...... Or is he in denial ? E

I don't know if it is denial, or just plain misinformed and doesn't have a clue.....A lot of people make claims without ever having gone near and spent time on the border.
