Ya but didn't he also spend his last days curled up in the fetal position with drool running down his chin and soiling his diapers?
his last years in office that is. Around here we call that karma. Classless - about par for your course. Bringing Reagan into the equation An unknown man who cannot account for the wereabouts, accomplishments and actions for over 20 years. Received a degree based entirely upon affirmative action. Never accomplished a damn thing in his crappy life other then sell dope A self made man who helped defeat the the Soviet empire who were responsible for the slaughter of 40-60 million men women and children in the name of socialism. He survived an assassination attempt Comparing the two is laughable. I wants my free stuff now and I DON'T want to work for it!

A government is the most dangerous threat to mans rights: it holds a legal monopoly on the use of physical force against legally disarmed victims.

Some of the pro union protesters are not even teachers, they are paid activists brought in by the union from out of state.

Makes ya wonder if they are getting paid in food stamps, doesn't it?
They say everything happens for a reason. For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.

Gotta fight fire, with fire. Although the union thugs seem to be a bit more anonymous than a guy like Joe, who seems to not be hiding his identity like the goons sent in to "Organize" by the corrupt union supporters and bosses...

I am a teacher in a right to work (non union) state. Our district doesn't want to have to let anyone go in these difficult economic times so people leaving for retirement and other reasons are not going to be replaced, we are going to loose some stipends ($$) and will have to pay a bit more for health insurance. We might have to teach an extra class too. Hey I feel lucky to have a job. These kind of things have been happening in private industry the past few years. Why should I be so special because I am a public employee. These Wisconsin teachers get no support from me. Good post.. Please forward to powerguy.. thank you..

There are ways to gauge a teacher's performance. The test scores of the students is about the worst. Who here would want to have their careers based on how kids do on tests? Or on how well coworkers do on tests? My wife is a well-known teacher, and an instructor for new teachers. She's known to be outstanding in her field, but teaches at a crappy, low-performing school. Hint: 80% of the school population are from a particular ethnicity, insist on maintaining their grandparents' language day in, and day out, and generally don't value education. 85% of the school is poor enough to qualify for free/reduced lunch. Year in, and year out, her students test scores remain mediocre. Some kids do well. Her favorites are the kids who go to Mexico for 2-4 months during the school year; returning days before the state tests (her performance should be evaluated on them?) By the time those kids get to her grade, they've missed a full year of schooling. Good article today on why assessing teacher performance due to test scores doesn't work. Essentially, if you teach cherry-picked high performing kids, you do well. If you teach the dumb kids, you don't do well. http://www.sacbee.com/2011/02/19/3414834/using-student-test-scores-as-a.html

Komrade Al, It probably hurt when the Iranians released our hostages a few days after Reagan came in. Made your boy Carter look like the tool he was and still is.

No it was the corrupt deal made to make Reagan look good, send arms to Iran and the money to Central America.
And Reagan said he would never negotiate with terrorists.

No he negotiated with big business. Swelled pockets while cutting wages and losing jobs.

Blaming Reagan for jobs going oversees? Thought it was Clinton that signed NAFTA. Isn't the current administration pretty anti energy which results in higher energy costs for all of us and makes our businesses less competitive with overseas competitors? Don't we currently have the highest corporate income taxes in the world? That wouldn't force companies to leave our shores would it?
I am proud of some of the current crop of Republicans who are tackling these tough issues. Next up is Social Security reform. It will be difficult, but there is no alternative. Love to hear some suggestions from the left on how they are going to fix it.

Reagan cut the deal that started the trend. Companies then moved their headquarters of shore to avoid taxes. Where did he help average joe?

He knew average Joe had to friggin help average Joe and that no nanny state had the answer. No union is going to bail your unskilled self out for your entire career. And I feel he truly loved our country and never apologized for being an American.

Not from the left but this is a very easy one to fix. Pay back the money with interest they borrowed/stole from SS and then not pay people that are not entitled to it. SS would be in great shape.

I nominate ski here as idiot of the week. If you will make that for the month instead of the week, I will second it. I figure if we had some way of knowing, he is on here with other handles. miles
Look out for number 1, don't step in number 2.
