Your 100 percent correct, he does not have to Balls to start with the cops/firemen

It's called being an intelligent politician!!! There needs somebody to herd the sheep (teachers)and when the dust settles I'm pretty sure the others will be in line for cuts!!! Who in their right mind is going to take the entire state on at once?? Sounds like something Obama would have tried!!

Wish I could agree with you, I think this will get very ugly with the teachers. They work everyday with our future, I would not take that lightly.

You think the police/fire are next? Isn't going to happen.

What you are calling "Payback" is actually plain old common sense. You simply can not allow these folks to walk off of the job, & they nearly certainly would have if they were not pacified, for now. They can be addressed when things calm down & the results of the other cuts are shown. The system didn't get broken in one grand stroke by the socialists & it certainly will not be fixed in one, either.

Your position seems to be based out of jealousy that everyone doesn't have to get yanked off of the teat at the same time. The collective bargaining part of the bill is to help slow the certain assault that will begin against the lowly taxpayers, again, once things begin to improve & sheeple forget, again. These "Exempt" groups will need to be addressed, but it's just not reasonable to assume the severe damage done over decades be fixed in one penstroke. That is absurd.

What don't you understand?
MORE than right.. He's RIGHT ON THE MONEY...

He's the first one in this state to finally draw a line in the sand.. BRAVO...

Look, there are some teachers who do not agree with the union's stance.. But they're being railroaded by the union to fall in line.. Is THAT fair??

Hardly..

Powerguy - you're ok, but you're on the wrong side of this.. Just my .02.. smile

And the unions filling the political coffers of those they get elected who are now "negotiating", in good faith, for the taxpayer is not a conflict of interest? Get real.

Powerguy, I'm on your side(kinda).

They have agreed to concessions, and that was a must.

However Walker feels its too little, too late.

I've known all along the wages and benefits wasn't the only issue, Walker is simply anti-union and is taking this opportunity to cripple them.

He did the same thing with Milwaukee county employees at the courthouse, That went through the legal system and Walker lost, He had tried to break contracts and privatize the Guards at the courthouse. These people were re-instated by court order.

WE all know cost's have to be cut in a gigantic way, but few can agree on ways to do it. I feel for ALL the people involved in this

Jealously is not even remotely involved here. I'm pizzed that I as a tax payer have a Gov. that lacks the stones to just cut the people that don't scare him to do so, pretty cowardly in fact.

Well, a commentator on Fox said last night it might be a little bit about stopping the flow of jobs from Wisconsin to the "right to work" states of the South. Is that a problem for you, Powerguy?

That's even older and more worn out than the race card.
There is a limit to everything and WI teachers are WAY past that!

Police & fire may not be next, but they should be. There should not be any unions in Gov't.

Well. You can vote the dems back in next election. After all, it's better to do nothing and go bankrupt than cut where you can, now & cut more later as the situation allows. If he took on these even stronger blackmailers unions, now, he would accomplish exactly nothing & the rest of the unions would be even stronger as a result.

You are confusing common sense with cowardice. Maybe on accident, maybe on purpose. Same result.

And when you took that job you knew you weren't going to be a millionaire nor did you expect it. All you wanted was FAIR pay and compensation for an honest days work and that is what your union is there for to negotiate FAIR pay not to make you rich and they have no intention to do so. Everyone lumps ALL unions good or bad into the evil empire that is causing our country to crumble. It's not so but they are a convenient scape goat. It's not the line level workers that need to be cut but the big wigs who ear mark every bill with wasteful spending. Get rid of wasteful projects with bridges to no where and eliminate the ability for welfare to be career option and things will turn around. Michigan spends 8.8 BILLION a year on welfare the largest portion of the budget. Can you guess what the smallest portion of the state budget is? The Department of State Police at .3. Thats correct 8.5 Billion less. Looks good for someone looking for a SAFE place to live doesn't it. Hell, just round down welfare to the nearest half billion and you have the State Police budget covered. What a great world we live in.

It's long past time for that, though the current situation is plenty ugly, without trying to fix it..

Let me tell you what you get when you don't have a union in a Govt job.

The chief I work for is one of the highest paid chiefs in the county. As officers we are among the very lowest paid in the county.

Our starting pay finally got so low that they were unable to higher new officers. So the city gave all new hirers and officers with less than 2 years on a $4,000 a year raise. Then they said the longer you worked for the city the less raise you get. I had 10 years on at the time and got less than $500 a year raise. They did not cut my raise because I had poor perfromace they cut it because they could. Sure I could quit and go to work somewhere else but it would just be a different kind of [bleep] there.

I won't even get into the [bleep] I have taken on insurance lately but basically it boils down to we are all now paying premiums of a few high ranking city officials.

This is what you get when work with out a union.

I think everyone should give up their pensions.

So what if Wall street likes embezzling and manipulating our 401K's.

The Gov is telling us don't count on Social Security. They might be wrong, its happened before..

FDIC doesn't have the assets to back our savings accounts, Oh the tough luck..

I think it's time for a box of beer

Well. Why don't you all get together to protest the rotten city officials? If it is as you say, folks should line up with you to evict the current elected pricks and help get somebody in there who will not be a greedy, corrupt, azzwipe... Kinda like Wisconsin just did, on a state level........

With a union, you ADD to the the rotten, corrupt city officials with rotten, corrupt union officials. Neither are a chit sammich anybody with even a shred of sense would want a bite of.. Much less, [bleep] BOTH? Think.
