Huh?

Detail's man!

Did it come with a warranty card or was it grey market?

Did you fill out a warranty card and send it off?

Yes I bought it new, I thought I sent the card in but they said they dont have it but offerd to stand behind thier product if I sent them a fax of the reciept. I sent them a reciept under good faith that the problem would be taken care of because I could have taken care of the reciept and had the date within in the 2 years. 1 I'm not like that and 2 with this kind of quality and "service " I didnt believe this needed to be done. I was told by the dealer that I bought it from that they had problems with the early ones and this was confirmed when I called. I also went on a dog hunt last august. I tried to email them about the problem before I went with no response. When I ask the dealer about this he said last year at that time there was turmoil at Leica in Germany because he had some problems that were not taken care of and that was all taken care of and that they would take care of it for me he was sure of it

Sorry to hear of your problem... Leica's quality is generally undisputed but their customer service sucks! Generally though it's not needed. On the other hand, Swarovski isn't quite as good (to me) but their customer service in unrivaled... go figure.

Sure hope something can be worked out for you...

Send this guy an email detailing the problem. I will be surprised if he doesn't resolve it. He is/was the VP at Leica USA. Their service technicians are rude to say the least.

Hey thanks JB I will do that tonite yet. I'm willing to try anything. Once I remembered the part where I tried to have it taken care of inside the 2 years and nothing happened, it really pissed me off. Thanks for the info.

I had to use Leica service only once since 1985. Had to have the covering on a BA binocular replaced. The service was free (within the original Leica Passport 3 year warranty).

I have found their service to be incredibly slow, but sometimes obtaining parts from Germany at particular times of the year (they do seem to go on extended holidays) can be difficult.

I hope he can/will help you.

Nothing happened I emailed the vice pres. and not even a reply. Pretty much sums up what they think of their customers.Buyers beware and keep better records of your gun stuff than your taxes it will prove more useful in the long run. I also just bought a pair of Zeiss binos Leicas were what I was going to buy but guess what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe I can help you out. Let me know the details and I will speak to some of the people I know over at Leica and possibly get this resolved for you.

Not really Leicas fault if you never turned in the warranty card. I had the same thing happen to me with Bushnell. They were really rude about a broken range finder until I nagged them. They offered to sell me one cheap until I sent them a receipt from my credit card and they sent me a new one for free.

Just bought some Leica binocs this spring and sent in the paperwork for my warranty card. Never got it so I called them and got it all straightened out. Now that warranty card is in my gun safe. It is true, you HAVE to send in the paperwork and keep all receipts.

I think it has a lot more to do with Leica's rangefinders only being warrantied for two years, than anything to do with a warranty card....

IMHO, for what Leica's cost, anything Leica, they could do far better at their warranty coverage/customer service. I've never had to use their C.S. (knock on wood), but I understand it leaves a lot to be desired.

It ticks me off to no end that their warranty is non-transferable. Zeiss' warranty is good for anyone that owns the product, and while Swarovksi's warranty is supposed to be non-transferable, I've read several accounts where guys have sent items in and were never questioned.

I wish there was some way to force Leica into being more like Leupold (In warranty coverage)! Leica should stand behind their products no matter what happens and no matter who owns them!

Last week I mailed in the warrantee card for the LRF 1200 Scan Rangefinder I bought recently from Premier Reticles. Not wanting my personal information viewable to just anyone, I put the folded card into an envelope and addressed to the same address on the card.

Returned for better directions. Must include city, province and /or country. Do not abbreviate.

I've got an E-mail out to Leica asking for the proper address to send it to. But I'm wandering just how many of these warrantee cards never get recieved, and/or just thrown in the trash.
