Has anybody compared purpose built .22 scopes with 60 yard parallax too regular 100yd parallax scopes ?
If so do you feel it's important to have a ".22 scope" or not ?
Trying to pick out a scope for my new CZ 452 Style.

Thanks Mike

I put a 4-12x40AO on my CZ 453 American and it adjusts down to 10 yards to infinity. Seems to work very well. Also has the fast focus ocular. I like it, and the price was not to bad. I'll likely replace it with a more expensive scope when money comes but for now it certainly meets my needs.

I have, and do not consider it important to have a "dedicated" .22 scope.
IMO the best scope Ive ever used on a .22 is a Burris FFII with Ballistic plex...

I picked up a Leupold VX3 and had it sent back for the parallex to be set to 75yds instead of 150yds and it made a huge difference. I think it was like $15 or $20 cannot remember. But well worth it.

I have some inexpensive Pentex Gameseeker 4-12x40s on a couple of rimfire rifles and like them, even though they don't have adjustable objectives. I wouldn't worry about the parallex in lower magnification scopes, say under 10x, but I think that when you go above 10x and are looking for precision work, an AO is the way to go.

I like 'em cause the dotz are spot on for 50-75-100yds...and quicker to use when we are high volume gopher shooting than turrets.....

I am looking forward to trying it out but am having to send it in to Burris because it takes a gorilla to turn the power ring.

Then don't worry about it too much and don't go overboard on magnification either.

Magnification depends on use. I keep a 4-14x on my .22's because 4x-8x is good for hunting but when your really testing your rig and going for good groups the 14x comes in great handy. Even @ 40 yards, needing to see your hole .22" to put another through it need high mag. You've got to be able to see it well enough to center your crosshair on it and hold it steady for the shot.

Parallax adjustment is a need IMO, when your shooting at a close range target @ high max the crosshairs blur out quite a bit, making them really hard to center on the target. 12x @ 40 yards blurred a lot for me. I switched out mine for one with AO, makes a world of difference.

You think what you gotta feriil. Fact is, I can stack bullets one on top of another all day at 40 yards with 3x magnification and could put them through the same hole at 50' with no magnification {aperture sights} like clockwork when I shot in registered smallbore competition. If you can't, maybe you need to see an optometrist.

After seeing how accurate my Marlin Stainless 981TS was I decided to install a good scope and went with the Vortex Viper 2x7/32.

The Vipers are very nice scopes, great optics, and seem to be tough as nails. (I'm also running a Viper 2x7/32 on my 375 H&H).

You need a 50yd parallax scope if you plan to shoot at ranges under 20yds with more than 6x or so. The reticle will blur at close range under high magnification.

The parallax issue is more of a problem if you use very high powers at close range. For a sporter 10/22 shooting squirrels at 25-50yds, using something like a 2-7x centerfire scope would work fine. For a Savage MkII target model, CZ, or Anschutz, I'd spend the coin for a parallax adjustable .22 scope, or at least a 50/60yd parallax fixed scope.

If you think they're good on a .22, you oughta try 'em on an HMR. laugh I've been running one on my HMR for almost 8 years, and it's pretty much "spot on" all the way to 300 yards, which is too damned far for an HMR. I have made one-shot kills on PDs out to 250 yards with it, though. I think it surprised us both, to be honest about it... grin

I've two Leupold 3-9*33 EFR and to me they are the best I've used.
Only other I prefer isn't made anymore but if you can find a Leupold M8 compact 6x AO, it's a mighty fine rimfire scope.

+1

When mine is on 6x the second dot is 100yds. It's the bomb diggity for shooting clay pigeons and pop cans at that distance.

Oh, no parallax issues...
