Doing a lot of reminiscing today. I called to talk to a friend today to find out she passed. She owned the ranch I used for access into my favorite hunting area and over the years she became a valued friend.
She always got such a kick out of me bringing my kids to visit and camp in the summers and I have very fond memories of afternoons on her porch, chatting away the day.
She has spent a lot of time in pain from an accident many years ago and in many ways her passing was a blessing. Still, I'm selfish and will always cherish, yet miss her terribly. I know she's in a better place now, but still wish I could have one last conversation with her.
I last saw her about a month before she passed and spent a couple hours in conversation and left with a big hug.
I'm not sure why I'm posting this here, other than you are friends and I met this special person while chasing places to hunt.
The world is a better place having had her influence and I'll miss her always, but know she's in a better place. God bless her.

Truly sorry to hear that, I am a little too far away to give hugs, but you can pretend. There is a lot of support here at this site, and it is there when you need it. Take some comfort in those memories and cherish the times you did get to talk with her, you can still talk to her even now if you want to. I talk to my late brother at times, more during the tough moments, but it all helps. Be glad for the time you did have. Bill

All we have when we are gone, is the friends who remember us. Sounds like she had a good friend in you! TM

Muley Stalker, I really hate to hear that. I'm going through the exact same thing here as I lost a good friend unexpectedly last week. I wish I had some comforting words for you or some answer, but I'm afraid the best I can muster...is that I share your pain. Wish I didn't, but I do. Well actually I can we can both we have been blessed for knowing good people that enriched our lives. Still hate the sense of loss though.
Is it Friday yet?

The older you get the more tired you become of saying fare well to friends. You just keep on keeping on until your turn comes.

I am sorry for your loss. I lost a hunting buddy this past December. It helps to talk about it, I think....

I last saw her about a month before she passed and spent a couple hours in conversation and left with a big hug. ____________________________________________________
It is a good you had that chance.
I remember when my brother in law (fishing partner & best friend) was in the hospital for some routine tests my wife was on the phone with his wife from the hospital room. My wife asked if I wanted to talk to him. I was right in the middle of a show, and I would see him that weekend anyway, so I wanted to take a pass. Well, my manners got the best of me and I took the phone and turned off the tube. We had a great twenty minute talk, and had some good laughs about the nurses who were taking his tests, then we joked about him not coming out of the hospital. The last thing I said to him was "take care of yourself, brother". Well then he dies the next morning, collapsed putting his cloths on to go home.
To this day I am thankfull I was able to have that last conversation, and likewise I'm glad you were able to have your last talk and hug with your friend.

Muley, I'm so sorry for your loss. Thank God for the person she was, and for creating an environment for friendship. She shounds like the real salt of the earth.
Like many of you, I notice that my old deer horns gather dust and become something of a pain, but the thoughts and memories of the people I know from hunting remain.
