Went to install bases and wouldn't you know it the jackass's didn't drill the front hole deep enough.

I believe the depth of the front hole is the difference in diameter between the outside of the action and the barrel threads.

Did you see barrel threads at the bottom of the hole?

Then I'll keep my eye out for that problem too.

This is exactly right, truer words have never been spoken. Nothing worse than the silent treatment and not to mention other adverse events that happen when the wife finds out about a new purchase that she thinks "you don't really need".

i re-install or replace the bases and rings if needed. i clean it completely, take it all apart and clean it and leave it with a wipedown of Breakfree.

i adjust the trigger if needed, and make sure the scope is boresighted and ready to go.

i shoot them first, and if they do fine i leave them alone. if they don't, i bed and float them and go from there. i just like to be sure that if it doesn't shoot well it's not from some stupid guy not putting the bases on tight or etc.
