How does the action fit onto the bedding block? In some pics, the front action screw surface immediately around the hole appears be higher than the rest of the surrounding block, looks almost like a pillar. In other pics it appears smooth with the mating surface of the block???

At the rear of the action in one pic, there appears to be a raised surfaces on the block for the back of the action, in another, it appears smooth???

Just wanting to know how this thing is really set up. Below are the two pics which are contradictory. The first is from Winchester's site. The second is from an article G. Rodriguez did for Shooting Times.

If someone has this rifle, I'd appreciate it if they could tell me which set up it used.

Thanks,

Geezus JM I just saw it! grin

I can't help because the two I shot were very accurate and I never pulled them from the stock......

But that elevated pillar don't look real good to me....I woulda guessed the flat ofthe action behind the recoil lug would lay flush. sick

That's a puzzler to me..

Me too. The more mating surface the better. Could skim bed I guess.

Just looks like 2 different blocks to me.

Thanks,

JM

Interesting pictures. Can't say I remember mine being like that. I haven't had my Coyote Light apart since this last summer.
I will pull my rifle apart in the morning.

I've had mine out of the stock, if recollection serves me they didn't look like the picture but appeared to be well bedded.Sorry, but I'm not pulling them back out.

I have 2 and have taken both out for trigger adjustment and mine were flat as I recall. But then I was in a hurry because I did not want to mess them up they were shooting 2 well grin

I took mine apart and it looks nothing like the picture. Mine is flat with no raised surface. Plus it shoots well. I can't imagine the set-up in the picture would shoot too well.

AAHHH..ok. Makes perfect sence now. Need to check out the new Winnys and see whats up. I looked at a New Single shot (1885?) model summer before last...checkering was deplorable..couldnt believe how bad it was. Looked like it was done with a pocket knife and the banjo playin kid from " Deliverance" ...price, $999 (like a dollar is gonna make a difference at this point)

JM, +1 on it's flat. Better skim bed yours or trip it and get a McMillan

Mine was a flush fit with zero slop. The rifle shoots MOA, so I don't see where the stock causes an issue.
